How much soil to use?

So I’m going to get BG strain and wanting to start off with 2 plants 1 BG and 1 GDP (ILGM). I’m wanting to put them in big pot and not put them directly underground. My question is when do you normally start outdoor grows especially for the 2 strains I’m planning to grow? I’ve read mid October is normally when you harvest but I haven’t found out any info about if there’s a set month to start growing outdoors. Do you have any experience with outdoor grows? I’m needing some advice on it. @dbrn32 @Dr.DankThumb420 @Dman1969 or any others that are experienced in outdoor grow?

I live in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. First or second week of next month is the norm around here. Gonna depend a lot on your location :+1: :tumbler_glass: :v:

The location I’m in is closer to South states it doesn’t get cold much just in winter. So usually normal day is about 70 degrees to about 90 degrees and doesn’t get below 55 degrees night time. @repins12

That’s from seedling to harvest? @repins12 if I started 2nd week of next month maybe 3rd week of next month and harvest in mid to kinda late October will that be enough time?

Usually about mothers day for here too. Although I don’t grow outdoors, just veggies.

What you want to look for is the frost free date for your area. Anything after that should be pretty safe as far as weather is concerned. In most cases from there there will be frost advisories if weather gets close. Another thing worth noting, is that you can move them or start them outside a little later than that. Just won’t have as much time to grow. Not too late though either. You want plants to be sexually mature in time to flower too.

That’s from seedling to harvest? Are these photos or auto’s. I’ve never grown autos outdoors but may try one this year. As a matter of fact the first auto that I ever grew was just back at the end of November. Kinda liking them, with the way that I am setting up my indoor grow. Photos will mature as mother nature tells them to.
if I started 2nd week of next month maybe 3rd week of next month and harvest in mid to kinda late October will that be enough time? That was pretty much my time frame with my guerilla grows, sometimes a little longer depending on weather.
So usually normal day is about 70 degrees to about 90 degrees and doesn’t get below 55 degrees night time. If this is your average temps now, I would put them babies in the ground but, it sounds like you are going into pots outdoors. What size??? I’m starting with 20gal cloth pots myself. I have up to 35gal on hand. If you have your plants inside in pots growing now, you can take them outside for a few hours a day, increasing time outside and this will acclimate them to the outdoors. I do this with the fruit trees that I grow from seed.
Next thing to consider with an outdoor grow is, are you in a legal state? I am not. This will be the major/deciding issue when it comes to your grow tactics. If I can be of any further help just, tag me. This is just the way I have done thigs and been successful in the past. There are many ways to do things. I hope that this helps :v:

Hello dbrm32 and everyone. Hope its ok to slide in and ask about fox farm. How much perlite per 1.5 cu ft bag? im filling 5 gal cloth pots. Should I add sphagnum or anything else? Im just getting set-up here and Ill start a log… Thanks to everyone here great site

I would mix 25-30% perlite. So 1 part perlite to 2-3 parts soil.

dbrn32 Thanks Im off to mix and set up tent!

@dbrn32 I don’t have frost advisory’s where I live so as long as it don’t get way to cold I can grow outdoors year round or close to it? @repins12 2 photo periods in the back and 2 autos in the front I also have an auto under led in other tent. Also another question I had researched more about my city water and found these contaminates. Will these 2 contaminates harm plants? If they do should I start filtering out the water and PHing the water to 6.8-7.0 pH?
