I have a 8x8 tent with a HLG Scorpion Diablo 630w. It’s sitting in the back of the tent. How many plants should it cover if the plants were in 5 gallon pots? I was thinking at least 6. I figured I’d need one light for the back and one light for the front if I wanna use the whole tent.

For good light coverage you should figure out how much floor space you can cover. To finish good buds the accepted watts per square foot is 40-50 per foot. Having a 630 watt light would give you 15 square foot at 42 watts per foot. This is much less than your 8x8 tent which would be 64 square feet.
If you fill the tent you will not have the light to finish all the flowers to a level you would want.
You have a good light for a 4x4 tent.

4 plants would grow righteous buds if you can keep them under the 4x4 footprint of the light.

Thank you for your reply! Yeah 8x8 is a lot of space to cover. I am currently just using the back side of the tent which cuts it down to a 4x4 space. I wanna try to maximize that space. I also have a FAMURS 3000W LED I am gonna throw on that side as well.
Sadly it’s blurple lighting. You think I’d be able to get 6 plants by using both lights?

As a new grower myself with just 2 plants in 4th week of flower I can not imagine the work load for 6 plants.
If the burple light is an actual 300 watt cause a lot of time they are equivalent 300 watts but actually draw like 80 watts then it can work to help the grow.
Also think about this. Popping seeds is not a gimmie. Sometimes they fail. The seeds I bought from ILGM have expressed multiple ways. One was very stretchy no matter the light and one was a dwarf that always lagged. I popped 4 seeds and cut them down to the final 2 plants during veg.
Consider filling 6 5 gallon buckets and hold yourself to culling the worst 2 for flowering.
I paid about $6 per seed. If I throw away 2 seeds that’s 12 bucks. That’s cheap compared to me dropping 2 seeds and then having one plant fail and having to buy dispensary weed for the missing grow.
You do not have that problem as you have the space but my feelings is that with the 2 lights you can get 4 plants to a very nice finish or 6 plants with light airy buds that lack the 
.
Before you start growing the question is mostly a math problem. Do I have the lights for the amount of plants I want.
Do I have the ability to adjust temp from 85-69. Do I have the ability to adjust humidity from 80% to 40% and when you need that 40% remember your plants will be drinking like mad and transpiring gallons of water per day into your tent with 4 plants.
Can you monitor nutes with a pH/EC meter and know what the numbers are doing. Are you going organic the whole ride ( my choice ) which is slower but is so much easier that some of the other ways

Unfortunately this is a case of a lot of tent, not enough lighting.
To get a decent harvest, i recommend only two plants, one per light, and that’s pushing it. Do with that what you will.
When you get the opportunity to expand, and purchase more lighting, 8x8 tent could easily handle 12 plants.

Covert his main light is a 630 watt diablo. He has juice for 4 plants.

Get 4 of those lights in there could probably do 16 plants 4 per light…

Size of plants make a difference here also. You could have 30 plants in solo cups, 20 plants in one gallons, and so on.
Also depends on how large you allow plants to get, before flowering.
Something to consider.

16 full size plants. Not gunna happen.
however this new grower has the amazing space for a real nice and fast perpetual grow. have 4 in veg for 5 weeks as your flowers get done and have 4 in week 4 flower and now you have a new load of flowers every 4-5 weeks.
Hey a guy can dream. Besides trimming 16 plants of flowers requires industrial cannabis toys…

I used a light rail when I had my 8x8 up. Really helped. Needed 20% or more less wattage. With what you seek just power the back 4x4. Will be easy to keep cool for sure. 5x5 gallon in a 5 of dice pattern fit perfect. 16sq feet of storage and workspace till more lights. 4x4 will yield more than 1 person can smoke. Just where i would go with it for now.
