He can do 9 plants easily. And it’s more practice. Whenever I first started I would always drop a few and then wish I woulda dropped more. It’s always easy to cull the weakest plant to make room but its impossible to make a plant appear whenever you wish you had one.
My suggestion to him would be to grow the 9 he wants, just downsize the pot because it’s a waste of money and coco to grow in pots that big.
And…the more plants you grow is less time spent vegging them to fill the tent. More plants = faster grows

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback. I’m going to follow your advice and make the following changes to my planned configuration:
- I will use the 10 gallon fabric pots for my outdoor mango trees and replace them with 5 gallon pots. (That has legal advantages, too.
)
- I will only put 4 plants into my 5 x 5 tent to have more room for scrooging, light and air movement.

True but, certainly can be overwhelming to some, but I hear your point for sure. Just being able to put all your love into a couple is what I did, but I am OCD about perfection…lol.
