Yes, there is. If you water right up on the stem when it’s a seedling, it has an increased chance of damping off. (i’ve also heard if you touch the stem of a seedling, the oils from you fingers can increase the chances of damping off).
Do you have any vent holes / run-off holes in those pots? MJ likes airflow to its roots. I use fabric pots so they get plenty of air, roots don’t suffocate. And you don’t want to over water. Over watering if mostly watering too often. They like to go from wet to drought. I usually water mine every 3 to 4 days in veg, and 2 to maybe 3 in Flower. It depends on the weight of the pot. Pick them up after watering and get used to the feel of the weight when wet and when dry.
Once the plant is fully established, you can water all over the surface and everywhere.
What’s damping off?
Yes. All pots have drain holes, but I never apply so much wwater that it runs out the bottom. I already learned that lesson. I have killed many with overwatering early in the game.
If using synth nutes which is the ff stuff, you have to water to runoff. Overwatering is not how much at once but watering too often and not letting it dry out as Jawz stated. Synth nutes build up salt and it has to be rinsed out of the bottom of your container and discarded.
Yes you can. We all crawled before we could walk Brother. I used to live in Tucson. Loved it.
They dont all look that good. I have made upgrades, listened to growmies here and dialed in my grow. Have the TDS and pH pens, a new nutrient line and just switched to coco to see if I can master that.
And note: you don’t water the FF soil to run-off until after the initial nutes are mostly depleted (4 to 5 weeks) then start using the synth liquid FF nutes to run-off. You want approx. 15 to 20% run-off.
Great piggyback. @DesertIndividual I marked this as a bookmark. Also you can tag me in like I did you if you have a question. Gonna hang with you as long as you are trying to figure out WTF???
Let’s be clear tho. Hate to steer you wrong on a misunderstanding.
Overwatering is frequency, not amount at once.
You could run several gallons through a plant at once and sometimes we have to, but as long as you allow the soil to dry out before the next watering, this is not overwatering. Remember Flood to Drought.
You cannot avoid it unless not using synthetic fertilizers (nutrients)
Hydro is a water only grow. No soil or coco media. Just totes and air stones and water tubes.
