What kind of snake is this - do you know? Is it venomous?
A colleague was telling me a funny story that he was walking along a hiking trail the other day with his wife and kid, who both walked right past a red belly black (one of our “less venomous” venomous snakes) without noticing it, and then once he pointed it out, his wife wanted to get up close for a picture and he had to stop her! Just because it isn’t an Eastern Brown or a Taipan, doesn’t mean you want to get bitten by it!
He and I both own pet pythons, so we often talk all things snake
Thanks!
It was cannaversary on the forum.
I believe it is this snake, I’ve seen my fair share of them. Nothing scary, and this one was pretty small, but they do get large.
The way his head has a hood to it similar to a cobra, lol makes me think it’s a hognose. We have the, around here but I could be completely wrong. The hood is what makes me think so……happy belated cake day btw. Thanks for all your help you give!
I don’t know a huge amount about your (America’s) snakes but I do agree that that looks like a little Hoggie. They’re such a cute little species, and I love how they play dead! Check this vid out with sound on and up…
Just seeing pictures of snakes sends chills down my spine. I will and have let benifecital go around the yard. But I’m on nerve for the rest of the day.
I totally respect that. Where I live there’s not many venomous snakes around here beside a copper head so when I saw a black snake last year I let it be hearing that they keep the venomous ones away. Just hope I don’t find it snacking on eggs in the chicken coop.
Yeah true and not true. Same here, people say having a resident carpet snake (say, living in your shed) will keep venomous snakes away, but the reality of it is simply if there enough food source around eg mice, then as many snakes as it can support will hang around, regardless of species, unfortunately.
For example (and sorry, delete if this pic isn’t allowed) here is an Eastern Brown actually eating a carpet python
Yesterday I decided to fim the blueberry and start a little lst. I transplanted the forum stomper that was in the solo cup to a bigger pot using ffof on the bottom and a mixture of Coco loco and happy frog on top. The amneza haze still looks the same so we’ll see what happens with her. H
Here’s this week’s photos.
Yeah absolutely. My couple that had mangled leaves at least formed their first few proper leaves - or tried to! - before going all wierd. This is just strange. I have a feeling that she will just stay stuck like this?? But for your sake, I sure hope not!
Remind me, is she a Photo or Auto?
@anon33684698 she’s an auto. It’s my last amneza seed so I’m holding on as long as she’s green. @MO_Grow417 I wish that was the case, but I don’t smoke my grows. I started for my wife and then started giving some to family members. If my wife was in the basement more I would swear she was messing with me and just stuck a sprig of a plastic plant in the soil.
