This will be my second grow, first journal. If you couldn’t get it from the title this is what I consider a punk rock grow. Why you may ask, well I have minimal tools. No ph or tds meters, budget lights in a home built grow box.
My first grow went pretty well considering I miss read the fox farms nute schedule. I grew a blueberry auto and an amneza haze auto. Went from sprouted seed straight into 3 gallon plastic pots filled with bush doctor coco loco. Ran two cheap burple lights and added two led flood light bulbs during flower. Ended up harvesting a little over a quart jar dried per plant.
With this grow I got 5 gallon cloth pots and upgraded to 2 quatium board style lights and will possibly add a homemade led bulb fixture during flower. I am dropping germed seeds straight into coco loco in there forever homes and using the trio of fox farms nutrients with tap water from a well. Going to try to read the plants to let me know what it needs in terms of nutes and lights.
I sprouted one blueberry and one northern lights and put them in soil the 21. Blueberry broke ground three days later. Five days after that moved a little soil and found the northern lights which look pretty small. I domed it for a few days and consulted @Nicky and @Not2SureYet and decided it was still worth a shot. Before the northern showed I went ahead and dropped another in water and got it in a paper towel now.
All are welcome and we will see what we can do this go around. I’ll try to do a update at least once a week to keep everyone up on what’s going on. Oh yeah invite all your friends!
Cool, I will tag along. I will say. Try to find an extra 10 bucks to at least get a ph meter. You can get by with out a tds for a bit. But the ph is a must. If you have a friend that grows too. Have him drop by with his tds meter to see what your water reads if you are not using ro. That info will help you as well. I like the inexpensive grows. They are the most rewarding I think. See how much you can do with as little as you can.
Even if it only lasted one grow. That alone would pay for it self. Mine lasted close to a year and a half as a guess. And feel free to yell if you need an help calibrating it. That is pretty straight forward though.
I think it would help a lot if you had problems. No tds would be easier to deal with. You could always find some one that uses the same nutes that you do. And ask what the ppms are they feed at. I am sure they could help give you an idea of what to feed to keep you in a safe zone
Checked before work this morning it looks the same as it has in the past couple days. I got a reserve rapped in a paper towel now. Thanks for checking, I think it might be a lost cause but I still haven’t given up on it yet.
Checked the small one again after work, it looked a little worse. I dug down a little bit to look at the root. I saw somewhere someone was having a similar problem and was advised to look at the root for discolor. The root still had a white tent to it so I recovered, we’ll see what happens in the next few days. The seed I got in the paper towel is now split, just waiting on a tail.
That is so true all the others popped out of the soil and took off. I think I have heard of northern lights being slow. Have you ever heard of that? Looking at the temp to humidity chart ( what you call it) I need to work on my humidity a little bit.
I haven’t gotten to a NL yet. One day. I haven’t heard that. But know that I have had starts like that from seeds that took off in other grows. As long as they sprout. I can work with them
So I mentioned the homemade light I will add during flower I modified a bathroom light I had left over from building the house. I flipped the sockets and added a splitter to each, removed the globes from four of the bulbs.
Occupying the grow box right now is a bag seed from sour space candy cbd I tried mainlining with the help from @Arrow and @MeEasy . I just flipped to flower and got the nutes mixed for flower tonight.
I found them at lowes I’ll see if I have the box at home. I spent 30 minutes in the bulb section looking for a high wattage 3000k and that was what I come up with.
