Well here’s my new thread for this next grow! Looking forward to this. Blue dream auto from fastbuds. Put into tent today in 5 gallon pots. DLI 24.8. I’m gonna run these in a 20/4 light schedule I think. Or do you think I should stick with 18/6? @Graysin @Docnraq @Newt cheers growmies!
Go with it. If you feel you will get more outta your plants by doing so, only one way to know right? On the plus side, even if you mess up a plant, you know how to grow weed so you can always grow more! Experiment, its one if the perks of growing your own.
How much will the smaller pot effect yield?
I have a blue dream and a critical+ 2.0 autos in there now. Should I start another thread for the critical or can I do both here?
Some…Bigger Pot = Bigger plant = more potential harvest. In theory…Seen some pretty big dixie cup plants online.
Id do em both here.
Okay. I’m dropping another blue dream in the morning in the 2 gallon!! F*** it!! You da man!!!
I’ll be here watching and reading bro. The blue dreams that I’ve grown were great all around. Can’t wait to watch them develop and thrive under your care.
Thanks for that brother looking forward to it as well. Only strain I’ve grown are these wedding cakes. Both of these strains look to be feisty and higher on the thc % scale. Please do follow along and chill. Ask questions. Criticize. Whatever haha. Hope everyone week is started off right
My opinion (and we all know what that means) is that all living things need a rest period. Also I have read a couple of studies that say the cost required to run 24x0 is not justified for the minimally increased growth. But if you do go 24/0 I’m interested in your results.
24/0 seems like overkill to me. I’m with you on the rest period of darkness. I ran my last two grows 18/6. Probably just do that again for these two because I know it works
I’ve read that BD is a monster size plant so keep that in mind. Good luck growing
I have heard that as well. Thought better that I do one of each this run and see how the plants grow. All goes well. I’ve got time to do this grow and one more. Gonna shut down for the summer. Lots of trips one, two don’t want to battle heat again this year. gotta get the stash up to get through summer and until fall first plant is done.
I couldnt shut down for that long. Get alot of peace from gardening…Think I am hooked on gardening.
Mmmmm, BD, I keep hearing and seeing so many good things about it, but haven’t tried one, yet. I’ll be watching yours!
I’ve seen many growers that say it’s not worth growing autos in anything bigger than a 5-gallon pot, that it’s kind of diminishing returns much bigger than that.
@Docnraq Congrats on being the Valued Member of the Month! (Too often, I miss the admin/promo threads )
Thank you @Twelve1
No reason not to 20/4 unless your electric bill is gonna kill you.
I recently read a blog article from multiverse beans that recommends a quasi 24-hour light schedule for autoflowers, based on the idea that ruderalis comes from northern areas that rarely see total darkness.
The article didn’t address the other 70%-90% of the genetics, though, that do want darkness.
Without copying the entire article, here an example of multiverse bean’s recommended autoflower light schedule:
"Enough with the sciencey stuff! We here at MVB believe that the optimum lighting cycle is 24 hours of light. 18 of those hours should be full intensity, and the remaining hours should be lower intensity.
Here is an example,
18 hours of 100% intensity
2 hours of 50% intensity
2 hours of 20% intensity
2 hours of 10% intensity "
Some autoflower growers here have tried a 24-hour light schedule but have said that their autoflowers do better with 4 to 6 hours of darkness. Personally, that makes sense to me. Well, like many things, looks like it comes down to a personal preference.
I do miss them too always. And the BOTM challenge.
Blue dream is something I’ve wanted to go and the medicinal effects are what I’m after. Believe me I wish I didn’t have to shut down for a couple months but gotta do the husband and family thing this summer with our vacations and hunting trips. It is very very therapeutic for me to grow and that’s what I love about it!!! I’ll do this until I can’t anymore!
Barely even see a reflection on my bills since I started growing honestly. 20/4 this grow it is!!
Thank you for that article and info. We all need and want rest so I’m sure our plants do too. At least a little. I survive on 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I think they’ll be okay. Lol
That all sounds great, @Jonesy287 !
