HELP - WWA Droopy Leaves

Excellent news!

So these girls have been doing fabulous the past few weeks, but I now have another droopy leaf problem - Any ideas? I am hoping that it is just from over-watering recently…

Back right looks the worst…

Here it is close up…

Another one with same symptons…

This one is well ahead in flowering & looks the most healthy - It is only 7 days older than the rest.

Tagging everyone who replied previously - Thank you in advance!!!

No new ideas.

No pests or broken limbs.

Temps stay between 60°F (dark) & 80°F (light).

Humidity fluctuates quite a bit but always between 20-60%.

When I initially created this thread several weeks ago I was apparently under-watering. They were a little droopy this morning, so I hit them pretty hard when watering, thinking I was in the same situation - These pictures were taken 4 hours after that. I am now thinking that they may have been droopy this morning from over-watering already, and I just made it worse.

I don’t think that overwatering is the issue. Healthy adult plants can consume a lot of water and unless you have poor draining soil, mine have been more prone to underwatering in my (limited) experience. What kind of soil is it, what size pot, and what is the frequency and volume of water you put through it?

Also, I think you may have had an issue prior where the water was flowing down the sides of the plant and out the bottom, as opposed to flowing through the soil itself, you had to break up the soil to fix that. Is that still an issue?

Great point. U may have ā€˜water tunnels’ that are effecting ur roots. Just spitballing here. Always pour slowly n cover all the soil. Can get messy under there

3 Gallon pots that get around 3 gallons total between 7 plants during each watering - I water every 48-72 hours depending on their needs, but that has become more difficult to gauge with lack of space now that they are bigger. I think I am just going to give them 3 full days minimum to dry out, and see what I am working with at that time. I don’t know what else to do, because there is no leaf discoloration or anything - I also have the fabric pots sitting on risers, so that they never sit in standing water.

About a half gallon every 2-3 days for plants that size sounds light on watering, but I am in coco and heavily water. I’ve haven’t done a soil grow yet. Experts will weigh in.

Here is the soil mix that I am using. No additives other than GH 3-part liquid nutes added to water along with some Cal-Mag. Purchased from Lowe’s:

They both look the same … my point is are you sure ?

Here is a pic of Underwatering

This is Overwatering

Are the branches flimsy?? Because if they are I’d say they need more water. Are you watering to run off??

Like @garrigan62 notes, it is hard to distinguish between over and underwatering. My money is on underwatering. When you water, you need to water enough so that there is runoff out the bottom such that 10-30% of what you put in comes back out the bottom.

That soil looks like it maybe more soilless than true soil. Peat moss, perlite, and coco are the main ingredients. I’m not 100% sure, but you may want to water more in the hydro range at 5.8. You can do a slurry test where you take 2 teaspoons of fresh soil, mix it with 2 teaspoons of 6.0 pH water, mix it thoroughly, let sit for 10 minutes, then measure the pH. If it is 6 or under, it was recommended by the person who taught me to go with 5.8 as your pH baseline. Something to consider… This is not the source of your problem though.

Not flimsy, but they definitely look like the first picture, so I must still be underwatering. All but the two worst looking plants have perked back up. I will look again in the morning.

This soil mix is extremely porous, and the run-off occurs fast. I have been trying to limit the run-off, so that I don’t have to recapture it due to lack of space. It is difficult to get around in the tent - Being lazy about it is obviously hurting me…

Plants that size and age probably need water at least every other day. You probably know this but pick up the pot and if it’s light then water.

Good info - I hadn’t thought about the PH variance due to this soil type. I will play around with that once I figure this other problem out, but I think you are all correct in that I am under-watering.

Question: Would it be okay to water more frequently rather than trying to soak them more at each interval? I would prefer to water ā€œjust enoughā€ daily instead of absolutely drenching them every 2-3 days & collecting the run-off.

Weed likes for the soil to go dry and then water IMO. I understand why you would want to do that. Constant wet soil also causes fungus gnats and root issues.

That is pretty much what I thought, so I am just going to have to get the wet vac out, lol.

I f you can’t water all at once do to the runoff then half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. Problem solved.
