Help with growing Blue Dream

Hello Everyone!

First want to say thank you to Any and Everyone for the help with this. This is a big deal for me so I’m very excited!

Anyway here’s my setup so far Apart from the soil which also has to do with my question

1.) 2 HealSmart Clip Fans, 6-Inch Grow Tent Fan, Monkey Fan

2.) 1 pot with holes at the bottom to drain water

3.) VIVOSUN VS1000 LED Grow Light with Samsung LM301 Diodes & Sosen Driver Dimmable Lights

4.) VIVOSUN 4 Inch 190 CFM Inline Fan with Speed Controller, 4 Inch Carbon Filter and 8 Feet of Ducting, Temperature Humidity Monitor for Grow Tent Ventilation

5.) VIVOSUN S425 4x2 Grow Tent, 48"x24"x60" High Reflective Mylar with Observation Window and Floor

6.) Plant Protector Kit (Sold by ILGM)

7.) Marijuana Fertilizer (Sold by ILGM)

This is what I’m using for my first grow. I’ll be attempting to grow some Blue Dream Auto Flowering seeds. My first question is am I missing anything apart from the soil? My second question is I’ve seen soooo many people here suggest all kinds of different soil to use but for this strain specifically should I be looking for a certain type of soil?

Sorry for this post being a bit long, I just really want to do this right so getting help from some people who knows their stuff just seemed like the natural thing to do.

Thanks again!

Welcome to our happy band of Cannafarmers.

My first concern is that the light that is listed is insufficient for a 2x4 tent, you will be happier with the vs2000, it will provide full coverage of the tent.

In regard to soil, I will show my bias and recommend Fox Farms Happy Frog potting soil with FF Happy Frog dry nutrients. The soil comes pre-loaded with about 6 weeks of nutrients.

I have 4 Vivosun VS1000s in a 3x3 tent… You really need 200 watts input instead of 100w.

However… I started with just one light and was able to get an ounce or two before I added more lighting

Just a food for thought.

Below is when I went from 1 to 2 lights at 100w each loke yours

Hey @Mono
welcome to the community.
:dash:
Imho ,
you might be better off using coco choir and perlite instead of soil

So would you say that for 1 plant 1000? Is enough to get the most out of Blue Dream in terms of yield or would I be better off getting 2 vs2000?

Thank you so much for your help btw!

Damn they look awesome! One question, for my tent size and the one light I’m using, do you think in terms of yield that I’d get the most out of blue dream? Or should I get 2 or more vs2000 light?

Well to the community team of awesome growers. This group is always ready to help a grower get results. Lights will be one of the most important tools you will use to accomplish the task at hand. I’ve used fox farms Happy Frog and ocean forest mixed together. Good luck with the addiction of growing. :grinning:

Welcome to our corner of the interwebs @Mono. Folks will help you with lighting, but typically there should be about 200W per plant in flower. I would anticipate you may need a bigger light system with bigger grows. I had a 650R HLG LED that has given me great flower. But for just starting, I think one light for one plant isn’t a bad place to start. Again welcome!!

One VS1000 will provide enough light for a 2x2 area, VS2000 will provide enough light for a 2x4 area. You could grow a single plant under a VS1000, but as @TransplantedFarmgirl says 100 watt may not give the best bud.

Also, I do like Foxfarms soil as well, I use Green Planet nutes and molasses starting about three weeks after going into flower. I transplant into new containers and soil right before flipping to flower

Two VS2000 may be overkill in a 2x4; one VS2000 and the VS1000 that you already have could be killer in a 2x4

Welcome to the community! As you can see we have many helpful members, we all want you to be successful. It’s what we do best here. I’ll be happy to follow along with your grow as well.

Cannabis can grow in many different kinds of soil. Some prefer all organic, some a mix.
Coast of Maine is good soil, some members prefer fox farms ocean forest. Others soilless mediums like coco.
Coco is inert, and requires feeding daily. It’s a great medium for the best growth… A lot of members including myself use coco. I enjoy the rapid growth, for a little better canopy training.

Don’t think you can fit 2 vs2000 in a 2x4.

I’d go with 2 vs1000s or 1 vs2000 should fit well…

They are Great lights!Goof growing!

Awesome. Thank you SO much for the help dude, I really appreciate it!

Lots of good advice already :+1:
And welcome to the club
You’ve got an idea of what the light you have is potentially capable of but let me ask you a question

What kinda yeild are you looking for
Like 1-4oz or 4-8oz or upwards of a pound or 2?
The 2x4 tent you have with about 400watts could potentially yeild you 1-2 pounds.
These are potential numbers now, lots of other things have to be inline as well of course.

I’m a coco-coir fan myself but i grow in both soil and coco-coir. I use foxfarm soils alot because its locally available.
But as long as you have good synthetic nutritions and watering habits, any soil will work if ya add enough perlite to it so it drains very well .

Although going with a soil like foxfarm that is built for cannabis already is one less thing to worry about though :+1:

Or going straight to coco-coir and perlite and go the hydroponic rought.
I think its easier and hydroponics definitely yeilds more.
