First time growing and I’m having a hard time knowing when to harvest. From what I’ve read they say when the trichomes are cloudy to amber. I’m just not sure what I’m really looking for. It looks cloudy but I’m hoping for a second opinion. I seen something about when the part on the nodes becomes plump, forgot the name but they look fat to me.
I have a sour diesel autoflower that’s about 15 weeks old now and a few others that are feminized. They’re 7 weeks into flowering.
I’m also wondering what steps to take before harvest. I read you should give only water the week prior and keep in darkness for 48 hours prior. Is that necessary?
I’ve used DE on her so some of the white powder is from that. It also makes it harder for me to look at.

Long dark period no. Better off taking the light energy.
Water or feed til end is your choice. Can save nutes. Not reusing soil…
Any idea how long before I should harvest?

that question usually boils down to the trichomes. i suggest getting a mini microscope or a jeweler’s loupe off amazon, u can find em on there for 10-20 bucks, nothin fancy, or u can get something like this too
u wanna use it to look at the trichomes very very closely to see whether they are clear, milky, or amber. once u get a good look u will know what i mean.
use this as a reference as to when u wanna cut her down

1000% do a bud wash when you chop. After dumping DE directly on the plant, you need to wash and rinse away as much of it as possible. Check out Jorge Cervantes Bud Wash on Youtube.

That’s a strange looking plant. Like it’s all foxtails or something. I’d go ahead and harvest it if it were me. I see no pistils, white or brown.
I didn’t top it so maybe that could be a factor. Didn’t know the importance of topping and by that point it started budding.
The pistils are hard to see unless close up
I believe these are the pistils
I mean on the buds. Here’s one coming down today.

I just got a digital microscope and got a few pics. Lmk if you need different ones, I’m thinking she’s ready for harvest but as always a second opinion is always appreciated.
