2 of these
Or 4 of these would veg a 9x9 im pretty sure.

You are right about the size, I was thinking of a different post. But still, OP asked for a good veg light. You wouldn’t actually need 9 or 10 of them either, as long as you have e reflective material and what not. But regardless, as said before. A room that big is gonna cost a lot no matter what.
This is not a great situation for someone without a large budget to be in. We could maybe get you set up in a small grow tent or something, but two 3m x 3m rooms you’re going to need multiple dedicated circuits for each room.
I use Horticlture Lighting Group lights. HLG100 3k. They work nice for a 2x2.im getting the raw 2000 or 3000 I can’t remember. I have seen some good things about the Mars lights.
i had to have new electric run 2x
You will need at least a 20 amp breaker for each 9x9 room. For lights, fans, etc.
he is on a fuse box with 3 circuits. he needs a whole new service to run anything. had one and had to replace it
With limited electricity i figured some 65w hlg would work for veg… but your in trouble for flowering.
Oh, guys this is not sounding good. But, I agree, at least about 1 HLG not cutting it. I’ve got a 600w Hi Par DE HPS. A fortunate turn of events, I’m fairly confident that will be sufficient to flower 3x3. Apologies I’m on the metric system, so I talk meters not feet. But I’ve been looking at a bunch of grow videos and had decided 1 65w was not going to be enough, but 9!!! The HPS will give me a good bloom as long as I can turn it out in my veg phase. So I take it 2 HLG 100w is not going to give me the kind of rapid growth I’m after. As for not tripping out my house, that could be a challenge, No power boards, 1 connection per point, I’ll probably end up having extension leads coming from everywhere. No TV, no heaters, definately no toast, My silly neighbours have those exterier outdoor power points and happens to be very accessible as the house basically is also the fence line.
I think the guilt would kick in before the harvest so, only extreme times. Im not gonna let the electricity issue be my downfall, if i can get everyhing else and thats my only hurdle, I may have to charge it to the man.
Back to my big problem, I basically need a light that can match a 400w-600w MH. If we’re talking LED’s, what price range are we looking at to come up with a comparable alternative. I was shocked when I was told $100 was going to give me rapid veg growth in a space 3x3. I imagine with digital balasts a 400w MH may have improved in the power consumtion aspect, but running 2 at the same time and the fans, pumps, etc . i need an alternative. I need to run a constant cycle if its gonna financially support me.
Im not a electrician, this is what it looks like. The smart meter is at the top, yet I’m still running off those fuses, one would think they would upgrade with the smart meter installation. Maybe someone may be able to give me a bit of hope, miracles happen supposedly.
Not even close. Each of those fixtures would essentially veg a 3’x3’ space. They would do reasonable job of flowering a 2’x2’ space. Definitely not 3mx3m.
Gonna need more than that. That’s 4 1000 watt hps territory to flower, all day long. Even an uber efficient led build would need controller to fire in order to keep inrush current down. 81 square feet is a big grow space.
add heat, cooling, dehumidifier, humidifier, lights carbon filter exhausts:anguished: also add a few fire extinguishers for all the extension cords just in case. you may want to move to another place that has updated electric.
what!!! No. 3m x 3m. 1000w hps in a space that size is far too much .
another thing, In Australia we run on 240v, in the states dont you guys run on something else?? I wish i had a better grasp on the laws of electricity.
water + electricity = bad
hands+live wire= bad
grow room + electricity = $$
I think along the way this post has gotten confused. I’m gonna try and steer it back to my desired trajectory. The room measures 3 metres long x 3 metres wide. I have 2 rooms the same size, one I will veg in the other will be to flower.
Flower Room
1 Hi Par 600w DE HPS
Veg Room
This is where i need help.
I am confident that 1000w HPS/MH is total overkill for a space that size. I was giving LED options a look in because of potential power issues and electricity bills. So if anyone knows of a LED light that will give me “rapid growth” please, the more options and opinions the more we know. I will end up going a 600w MH if a better option doesnt present, but there is a lot to consider when considering what is best for my particular situation.
You are not understanding how long a meter is, or the lighting requirements for an indoor cannabis grow. A 1000 watt hps is good to flower about 20 square feet. A 3mx3m is almost 100 square feet. On 18 hour schedule could veg maybe 30% more space. But not a 10’x10’ room and provide “rapid growth”.
Good answer.
Yeah it does seem that your not wrong when one does just a tiny bit of research but I still think 4 1000 w in that space is mental. See I am maybe mistakenly under the impression that the plants would prefer to not be crammed in small tent . I suppose when I’m crammed in a small room with a few 1000 watt bearing down on me I start to feel a tad uncomfortable.
O.k. So now I need to find a way to make this work without buying 4 1000w lamps. As you may be aware I’ve got some electrical issues but I plan to make it work. Although I have only 3 fuses, I can do tests om each fuse to check its load and find which fuse or fuses are connected to what etc. I wasnt planning on having to jump the power, for a relatively small grow I didn’t think it was going to be necessary. So 1 600w per area, largest reflector that’ll be effective as well as reflective walls of course, if the area is 2mx2m and say for example the light was mounted on tracks that just went back and fourth. Do you think I could make that work without adding any supplemental lighting?? Also how many plants is ideal per sqr metre. I may have under estimated how many plants I could fit, and final yield predictions are a big component as this is being done slightly out of neccessity.
I still don’t think you’ll be very successful with a 600 in 2m x 2m area. You can certainly do or try whatever you’d like. I just don’t want to be the guy leading you down a road I don’t feel you’ll be successful with. A 600 would flower a 1m x 1m space pretty well. And you could veg same size space with a little smaller light.
To answer your question, if you don’t plan on a long veg 4 plants in 1m x 1m is fair amount.
Thanks for your help and everyone’s help who has commented. I seriously underestimated the lighting required and that will save me wasting a lot of time and money and effort in the future. Right now, my biggest issue that I cannot really avoid is the power issue in my hundred year house that has not been updated possibly ever. I had ty o research a bit about electricity but it didn’t take long to learn that c compared to new houses that have between 100-200 amps per house, my house runs off a grand total of 30amps. A 5 a 10 and a 15 amp ceramic fuse. I see fire everywhere in my dreams.
I thought of hitting up landlord but likely outcome is I’d be evicted. So until a better option presents itself I will be sticking with the Australian summer to grow. And if I wanna decent crop in the new year I best get active cause now is the time we like to get our babies in. Happy growing and thanks again.
I believe you are making wise decision.
