HELP! Fan Leaves turning brown and dry

@Davyg i haven’t touched the girls in 3 days as I was thinking I might be stressing myself worrying. This morning I did go to water on my way out for the weekend and found a lot of browning. I’ve cleaned up maybe two hand fulls of fan leaves and a small amount of sugar leaves.

I have 3 going and they all look very different at this point considering they all received the same attention. I’ve posted several pictures from this morning on another post.

From what I see there I would think about cropping her. It’s difficult to tell from your pictures. Your sugar leaves are showing amber from a few days ago so your buds won’t be too far behind. It’s very close and from here it’s pretty much a matter of preference. I would harvest a bud and dry it purely to try it out

@Davyg I’ve got a small one cut and drying in the same tent. But Cannabian is telling me they look done and I need to harvest them all. I left the girls with a fresh water and I will be away from them for today and tomorrow. I will be able to harvest them all on Sunday if I can get a few second opinions

Late post but I was able to get them all cut Saturday evening. I went with a mild wet trim getting rid of the fan leaves and leaves some of the sugar leaves. I end up separating them into branches and handing in the tent once I dropped the light down to make the room. RH has been holding just under 56-60%

Let em have it guys I need all the constructive criticism you got.

A few days either way wont help or hurt much. You just get dopey smoke the longer it stays alive. Of course, if you wait too long the trichomes may start to degade as well.

I think they look good. Yield looks good as well and like cannabian says a few days either way won’t hurt :sunglasses:

@Davyg @Cannabian @Budz420 Any tips on how to improve on bud density? This was my first grow and what I’m finding is that most of the buds are lite and airy with a small number of the larger feeling heavier but that could be just due to their size and not actual density. I guess what I’m asking is density related to the strain, genetics or environment?? I’m assume the answer will be all of the above

You have answered your own question mate. I had similar results first run. Great smoke - but light n fluffy - a lot of it. I knew what was holding me back - mainly lighting. I feel now like I underwatered last time - enough to keep them happy… just - but not to perform. I had unknown - but proven genetics first time. This time I’m running quality genetics and using the boosters etc. with my nutes.
So I basically flipped the board and started again - and it worked - far better than expected. :+1: :sunglasses:

I use a high PK booster as well as quality lighting. My bud density has went through the roof since I switched to my QB260s :sunglasses:

Light is might

What would you guys recommend for nutrients? I was gonna go with the ilgm kit but if you guys have some experience with those and know of better??

Also I was using a Mars Hydro TS 1000W in a 1mx1mx2m grow tent. Would you guys recommend replacing this lamp with something better or will this be enough for a second small grow??until I really learn the ropes I dare to go any larger.

Also my humidity is struggling at 52%, even with all the rain we have had these last two days. Am I in trouble? I do have some 62% tags for my jars

Hard to beat GH products because they are readily available and lots of people use them. There is also Jacks… again fairly popular and this makes it easy to walk a guy through a grow when your mentor is using the same stuff.
As for 55 percent to dry with… sometimes you can control how fast water is released by the amount you exchange air. If you are using a sealed tent and an inline fan, and can control speed of that fan… its just a matter of toying with the venting speed.

I use the Canna range - soil, nutes and additives/ boosters. It works really well for me - but
I don’t have access to many of the products available in US or Europe.
Humidity in dry is a challenge. Te first 3 plants dried in 3 days due to a hit of 20% RH for a day or so. This time I have been able to stay between 45-55% for 4 days now - with the assistance of a dehumidifier. Hoping to hag around those numbers and get a 8-10 day dry. As @Cannabian says - your airflow in the space - more so in higher humidity as it can help deter bud rot

I recommend you use a growing method that someone on here uses… contact them by using the @ in front of their name and ask if they will mentor you. Use the same medium and feed… if they get great results… you will to.

I used Bionova for a while and switched to Canna vega and Canna flores. So far the results have been great. My humidity dropped to 10% during drying so I jarred a little quicker and monitored it that way. Fill my jars half way so there’s plenty room in there to allow the moisture to escape. The humidity climbed back up to 70+ so I vented the jars and directed my airflow over the top of them for an hour or so and watched the humidity drop. If I’m at 70% I will drop it to 50% then seal the jar. Idea being that it will climb back up to around 62. Just remember to move the buds about though, don’t want to give mould a chance :sunglasses:

Looks great @ThomasM36 . Learn anything? I’m sure you have. I happy that you didn’t have a total loss.

A few things for humility. Cheap. Hang a towel out of hot water. The other is a hot plate with a tea pot. You got to have the humidity even if you spray water on them. Once the leaves stop talking moisture the grow will be difficult. I have humidity problem even with a humidifier.

So I managed to keep the RH at 55 % for the past 5-6 days and starting to trim the flowers today. Please to say the dry went better than I expected. I was only able to get 1liter glass jars for cure. Would this be the size your guys recommend??

Also since the flowers are very light and airy I was wondering about how much you would expect to fit in each 1L jar??

Also wow dry trimming is way more than I expected. What’s your take on wet trimming? Any easier or have it’s own risks? My issue could be partially because I had a bit of nut burn that I’m cutting out still so I’m having to hedge the girls a little :sob:
