Hello Mr. Wormwood, welcome to my adventures, Drop in anytime
Gotcha! Iāll let them veg another week or two before I flip Iāve almost gotten through the whole thread! Looks like Iāll have to start reading the jacks321 zkittle thread after this
@Hellraiser, thank you for that detailed response (another to print out and hang by my drying tent).
i did have a question. you mentioned thatā¦
- Hang til buds are around 70RH (at 69F and 60RH) took me 6 days last harvest
When they are still hanging, how do you gauge what the BUDS are? i seem to struggle with this. my last 2-3 crops they seemed to be VERY dry. this harvest i didnt wet trim and they are definately taking longer, but i am not sure how to tell when they are ready.
Yeah that takes a while to get the feel for but thatās pretty much what it is, I feel a medium size bud, give it a pinch and see how it responds, if it stays flat - then still too wet. When the pinched bud springs back some after being pinched then itās about ready for the slow dry.
I have another hopefully more precise and less subjective method to test bud dryness that Iāll be trying out and documenting with my upcoming Banana Kush harvest, involves using a moisture meter to test the buds for moisture content, something that came up in the Grove Bags thread. This could be a huge help for new growers. Basically test buds until they show a certain level of moisture content. See my banana kush grow journal in a few weeks as I will detail the process of checking and what numbers Iāll be looking for.
The type of moisture meter Iām talking about:

The Grove bags thread where using the moisture meter is discussed:
@Hellraiser, Excellent! that is great info and I love the moisture meter concept. I may have one around from my more active woodworking days. Until I am doing this long enough to develop āa feelā for it, I like it idea of having something to reference. (I wanted to just mail you my buds for review/approval, but the logistics seems daunting).
Next grow journal has been started
#Hellraiser what do you think is going on here? I switched to flower 21 days ago. The last week I have noticed some leaves turning yellow. Had one turn yellow and fall off. Is it a deficiency of some nutrients or maybe too much nutrients?
Looks hungry to me.
How much, if any, calmag are you using?
@Hellraiser, like wise Hellraiser! Iāve followed your post and advice behind the scenes and truly appreciate all you advice. You definitely know your shit! Thanks again Hellraiser!
3/4 tsp per gallon. 1 time per week.
ok, whatās your ppm on the runoff
Not sure. I havenāt checked.
Looks hungry
@Hellraiser Hey Bud! Iām going to put Blue dreams in 7 gallon with Happy Frog. How do we water/ feed first time ? Thanks Bud I searched the thread couldnāt find it again. I am using the AN nutes. Thanks again
Looks like nitrogen deficiency, not feeding enough or the right nutes. What nute schedule are you following?
Iāll assume transplanting into the 7 gals and still in veg, so first watering Iād give a very light dose (1/4) of the grow nutes with a full dose of voodoo juice, use voodoo juice for a few waterings whenever you transplant to inoculate the new soil with beneficial microbes.
Thats a great little snipet of hellraiser bio. Good stuff. Im excited to push forward with my new found passion with the awesome people on here. Hoping you will continue to take the ride with me once i finally start my journal. Im surely trying to learn too much too quick, but thats how i am. Feeling way more confident now than i did a month ago. Which is when i joined ilgm. 40 days ago actually according to my profile. Thanks again for your input so far !
Thank You @Hellraiser . I think I had some very hot H frog. It burnt my plants first transplant with less then 1/4 nutes. Iām sure I stunted them, they are doing well now but, took alot of time to get them back in shape. I under fed first grow, over fed second, maybe Iāll get it right third try! LOL
