GSCE Stopped Smelling & Stickyness

G’day All!
New here & to forums.
I’m in my second grow & got 2xGirl Scout Cookies Extreme & 2x Gelato going. Well one Gelato as one has already been harvested at 10 weeks from seed. Have just harvested a GSCE at 12weeks from seed with the others very close. This is my first time growing Autos. Everything’s been great & enjoy growing autos where you can see them grow everyday.
So this GSCE I just harvested stopped smelling & it’s Stickyness a week or so ago. It was quite smelly & very sticky upto then.
Even whilst harvesting it didn’t smell & was not sticky.
The other one is stinky & sticky so what the hell happened?

I think there are a few reasons why but some smells will come back once curing is done. However I’ve had a similar experience and I think it was due to my plant being pollinated. Wasn’t alot of seeds but once I smoked the buds I found a few. Couldn’t figure out why it went from smelling so good and sticky to nothing at all. They say she stops focusing on bud development and puts the energy into seed making once pollinated. Only thing I could figure out

Thanks for the response. Wow pollinated :grimacing: That wouldn’t be terrible if it meant the seeds would be feminised as well?
These GSCE’s are beautiful plants. At the cost of buying seeds I could deal with that being the case
I did have some issues with a heat wave we had recently & my air system struggled.
Here she is just before going into 48hr darkness.

Very well could have something to do with it. How hot?

In the 38/39’C growing under a MARS TS3000…
Amitantly my light was too low also…
Rookie mistake.
I didn’t think of correcting until I saw leaf Curl as was more focussed on controlling temps.

That is NOT a GSCE plant, that is a Christmas tree!!! Wow, I am impressed. Send it to me if you don’t like the lack of smell, lol. I have two GSCE growing as well, getting close and they are big and wild in 3G bags in a greenhouse. Tallest one is over 5’2". Seems like some days I can smell them outside the greenhouse, but today i couldn’t. Seriously, that is one good looking plant, almost a shame to cut it down.

Wow… i was gonna say… after cutting the terps usually ghost on ya. Not sure about stickiness but it isnt as gooey as on the stem growing. After a good dry AND cure the smells come back with a vengeance.

But after seeing 38/39 C? Thats the culprit. High heat is a nono that late. Sorry… could still be pretty potent. And u will get some terps back… but maybe not all.

Also… 40C… by my country murica math… i have deduced ur in Oz? And thats over 100F… sounds like a recipe for disaster but u live n learn :joy:. Welcome to ILGM.

Thanks for the compliments & feedback. She really was a beautiful ly shaped plant. Some early LST pulling branches down & lots of prunining. I found a couple of other articles on this loss of smell & yeah looking like it may have been the heat & light…
Fingers crossed she comes back.
The other one smells great & is sticky. As is the tall Gelato.

Bottom pics says cal mag issue but wholye big bush batman that’s a monster of a plant bud wise she thick

Hey Cal/MAG you rekon. My plants got burnt from my light being too close & on full strength. Colour came back but leaf tips were scorched.
The Gelato is packed. I had another one I harvested first at 10 weeks. I called it the Bonsai as it was bent over early & only grew about a foot high. She yielded 4.8 ounces which shocked me for its size.
So this being 4 times the size am hoping for a bigger yield

OK so back to Cookies that lost its smell & Stickyness. I got to sample some last night. The buds are frosty & look like they been sprinkled with sugar. But smell like dried grass… I was hesitant to smoke it but once I took the lid off the grinder it smelt great!
Couldn’t believe it. Then when I smoked it it tasted great! The smell & flavour are good even at this early stage. So hopefully some jar time will bring it out more. If not doesn’t matter cause it’s there once it’s chopped.
Very relieved she wasn’t a write off
Yield was 5.6ounces which is great. Honestly thought it would be a bit higher from size & amount of bud. But I’m more than happy with this on my first auto grows.

If cured correctly that wet grass/hay smell will faded away and the real smell will start coming out. Sounds like they have you covered. After reading your response, my money is on the heat and light intensity.

No your past the cal mag regime cal mag discontinues after week 6ish but through strech and first couple weeks of flower they are cal mag hungry… u see the tip of the leaves brown and curling upward that’s advanced cal mag deficency

OK should I do something? Their on water only now

Naw your on your way out … next time make sure to use atleast 5 ml gal in flower of calmag they always demand it at start of flower to week 6

Thanks mate. I did look into it further from your original post.
I’m using House & Garden nutes. Apparently a common issue with it…
With the heat wave we had & switching from a Ts1000 to the TS3000 I just thought it was heat & light…
Should have joined up earlier
Thanks for the info.

Good news!
It only took a couple days in the jar & the smell is back!!!
So relieved.
And it is strong weed
Thanks every one.
Really appreciate the feedback.

Best thing about home grown it’s almost always more potent then most weed you can acquire on street or dispensaries… how do you think they make cartridges they have to collect some keif some how and I’d get they dont grow extract specific weed because 9x out of 10 the weed they have on hand is the same oil Terps and strains they have …

I know this is an old post but felt I should reply if it happens again or can help someone in the same position.

The heat most definitely could have evaporated your smell and the oils on the buds on it’s own, but I believe mine was a low humidity issue combined with higher heat. Not really that bad, acceptable really… 82 -85 F tops, BUT I also a newbie had just acquired a new dehumidifier and had “heard” that I needed to be in the 35% humidity range because I was in flower. In my mind I was gonna grow the tightest buds anyone has ever seen lol. I had no idea the temp and humidity had to correlate, In one night, I went from super stinky and oily, to dry as a bone and scentless, I was devastated. I actually fried a good majority of my trichomes.

Good news is, my grow went super long, about 14 weeks and trichomes, oils and smells returned thank God! Made harvest tricky though because a lot of the top buds had clear trichomes and the bottoms milky and amber. I’m 100% sure it would have been even better, but the buds were fantastic. Sometimes it pays to not give up, these plants are resilient.

Here is the chart some cool person on this forum sent to me.
