I’m from central Texas and the summers get extremely hot here. If I planted marijuana on the east side of a few steep cliffs, would this be enough to protect the plants from the scorching sun? They’d still be receiving all the light from the morning sun, but they would experience darkness a little sooner than usual. Would this also have any effect on flowering?
The marijuana plants will be protected from the harshest sunlight and the area will remain on the cooler side if it is shaded for the entire afternoon. However, the plants won’t be as large as marijuana plants that receive a full day of sun and adequate moisture. They will also probably ripen about a week or two earlier than plants under normal conditions because the shaded area will get dark 20 minutes earlier.
