Good Morning Fellow Pharmers , we’re now in week 5 of flower. Week 4 was kind of a catch up week for the HID plot as they were only getting the benefit of 2 lights during week 3. The thickening of the buds has begun in earnest. I want to ask my Crew if I should start backing the intensity of the LED lights off ?. I would like to go this week at 1000 and back off next week but want to avoid foxtailing as much as possible. @dbrn32 Guru you are my lighting expert . What advice would you give on this ? The Jelly Donutz seems to have relatively small buds as a whole. I’m not sure if they are trying to foxtail or just fill in.

Nice big Colas forming on this Moonrocks
And here is the GG4.

She’s starting to fatten up a bit. Happy Growing Everyone

Tough call. Some genetics seem to throw crazy foxtails even under modest light intensity. You can back it off some but I wouldn’t drastically until maybe week 7 or so.

They look like just filling in right now :+1:t2::muscle:t2::green_heart::metal:t2:

If its in the genes its gonna happen. Ok. I am glad I asked , it reassured me that I’m on the right path. I sure hope they fill in alot. I can tell its gonna be good but there has to be enough to make it worthwhile . Unless a guy had a couple acres…hmmm…now…hmmmm

@StonedCold13 reminded me, the electrician came and checked the controller box. No sign of anything out of place , no burn marks, no nothing. Plugged in the timer relay cord and blew a breaker on the 110. He’s thinking a short in the timer relay is the problem but can’t figure out why it fried all 4 ballast. He checking on it further. For now just running 4 Hid’s on extension cords. Was hoping to have 6 or 8 working by now. All in good time I guess. Happy Growing

Is this a titan controller with trigger cord?

Any lightning storms?
We had lightning soo close it was 2secs after flash we heard boom. Fried our internet modem, we weren’t the only customers in town needing new modems. I’d never thought our modem would crap out due to lightning. I thought it was a wire went in the power cord.

I’m so sorry to read about ballasts blowing on you. That part of growing HPS & MH used to bother me, worried about bulbs n ballasts. I have a never used ballast because I bought a spare for in case of ballast breaking. I had one that used to misfire and make me want to tear my hair out

This is the unit inside and out. I have to figure this out. I was thinking to get another 8 light controller, as its the only way to safely (supposedly) run that number of hoods. But this scenario cannot be repeated. I do think I should get a 2 trigger model to stagger the banks ignition series when running 8 hoods. 4 at a time shouldn’t be any problem. I should of come to you sooner Guru but honestly I thought this was a relatively simple operation. I’ve never lost a ballast before and to short out 4 at once was a bit embarrassing. I’m expecting my electrician is doing some more involved research into this. As I know he had put in a call to another electrician who runs lighting controllers himself.
I completely trust whatever advice you can give me on this. I have tried to find a sealed controller ,in the event humidity was the culprit , but haven’t found any.
@Spots thank you for your condolences. A couple of these ballasts have been around for a long time and brought me many a good harvest. Kind of like old friends. Services will be held on on the 15th of January , with the viewing taking place from 8am- 10am with the services immediately thereafter. Following the wishes of the deceased , we will be taking contributions for the furtherance of the grow. lol.
I now have 2 spare ballasts , just in case. And HLG has a good deal on the DblEnded hoods which I need to get a couple orderedd to see if I like them.
Lets grow some weed. The resevoir ppm numbers just keep going higher. They are getting PH’d water pretty much and not using much nutrient at all.
@Bunger64 provided some B64 seeds. He and I both have noticed these plants start yellowing in the tops as soon as the get flipped. What would be a solution to this ? I recommend a dose of epsom salts a week before flipping. What do you Pharmers think ?

It doesn’t seem to effect the buds much just an overall discoloring of the upper leaves. The buds are actually awesome, golfball , 9 inch long buds. It seems to be a very strain specific issue and not of great concern but something we would like to put a finger on and squelch it. @OGIncognito @kaptain3d @Low @Dman1969 @Crazy81 and anybody who wants to chime in. Happy Growing

Could be a calcium hungrier strain under intense lighting Brother. Occasionally I get a few that need higher doses under the same lighting intensity. A never ending education in this hobby, keeps us on our toes and researching :love_you_gesture:

Are you using any calmag? If not mabee 5ml a gallon should help. If you are using it double up :v::love_you_gesture:

Do you have the info on ballasts you’re using?

Using thumb eyeball method running 8 ballasts at 120v would probably exceed current rating of the controller. If they were running at 240v should have been good.

I use GH 3 part at the outset and go to Lucas Formula during flowering. I get my ppm’s around 1600, and add as needed to stay no more than 1600ppm. As I add plain ph’d water to bring the ppm down , I add cal-mag to the water and thru week 5 Koolbloom. The B64 is the only strain showing this discoloration. All the others are vibrant green and or going purple, this strain going very yellow. I’m in rockwool and could treat the plants with a hand application but realize at this late stage you aren’t really going to see improvement. This is something that would have to be addressed before it happens because it happens really quickly. Set the lights to 12/12 and 3 days later the discoloration is there. Or something to that effect. After discussion with Capt.B , it seems this weed always does this, and is standard modus operandi. I do wish I had treated with epsom earlier but really wonder about its effectiveness at this point.
Starting to get some really nice buds

So thats Blackberry Moonrocks, Booberry,B64,GG#4,Jelly Donutz.

@RightAway , how much snow did y’all get? We got 6” up here on top of the 1/4” of ice we already had. I’m ready for spring now, that’s enough winter!
