Grow tent ventilation system and humidifier

I have a 2 x 4 x 60 grow tent. Looking for suggestions on a vent system.

Depends. Are you going to run a carbon scrubber on your exhaust? A tent that size may do well with passive intake, but if you are going to run a carbon scrubber you should get an inline blower instead of a cheap inline duct fan for exhaust.

Are you going to need to heat or cool the tent, you think?

I do want to use a scrubber to control the smell. Also I would like the ability to control temps if needed. Also my humidity where I have the tent set up is 45%. So I need a humidifier also.

With the scrubber, it would be best to use an inline blower. They are more expensive than inline duct fans, but they are more powerful. Inline fans loose a lot of power trying to push air through a carbon filter.

As far as controlling temps and humidity goes, that’s so much easier if you can control those factors in the room that your tent is in. Is that possible for you?

Yea that’s possible. I have the setup in my master bath. I don’t like to keep the heat up high in the house. I keep it at 69. Right now I have a small space heater in there I can use. I’ll also get a humidifier. I was going to get the evaporative type. What should I use for my intake fan. I was going to start but since the humidity is sitting at 45% in my bathroom I decided not to.
So if I buy a humidifier and use the space heater I can probably start and have the blower and fan before flower I should be good? Can you post links of a setup you suggest. I normally buy from Amazon.

I’ll suggest a temperature controller for the intake fan like I use. You can also plug a space heater in the heating socket. It’s worth every penny of the $35 I spent on it.

Those on Amazon?

I have similar size tent but different placement. My setup is inside a room temperature range 68-71.

The temps and humidity depends on the power of the inline fan i usually use it on low. Odor and temperature is not an issue but humidity is , it is really difficult to keep it under control.

Here are the items I use …

Inline fan

Carbon filter

Humidifier

Good luck …

I was looking at that humidifier is that the evap type

I’m not watching this thread as I’m both a lab member and this side too. I read almost every new thread on the public side so please tag me by using @skgrower or I won’t see your reply. To answer your question, yes they are on Amazon.

It an ultrasonic not an evaporative type , but its really good having both worm and cold mists options to help cool or worm the tent.

@Ifrit can you set the desired humidity level on it? Also can you post a pick on how you have your vent system installed. My concern is that the tent isn’t really that tall and my light would be to close to the plant later on in growth. As of right now if my plant were to get 36 inches tall the light would be 5 to 6 inches away. @OldSkunk

Apparently there are inline fans that pair well with carbon filters, like the one skgrower linked to. Sorry about that. Perhaps I should have said that the cheap inline fans don’t work well with them. I read a lot of reviews on Amazon under those $20 fans and it seems best to avoid the cheap ones.

@KJ all good bro. I definitely don’t want to go cheap. I appreciate all the input give me then I try to make an educated decision. Right now I’ll prolly just get a humidifier to get start and in a few weeks get the vent system. My issue I’m thinking I have is the room in the tent height wise. As of right now if my plant grew 3 feet my lights would be 5-6 inches away. So I was thinking routing it on the side from the bottom up. I’m assuming that would work?

It seems like it would work. What kind of light set up is it? Is it a cool tube system?

Oh, I get it now, I think. There’s not enough room at the top of your tent, so you have to stack the lights with the fan/filter on top and the lights below them. Instead of losing that room you wanna mount the fan, filter and intake nearer the bottom so there is more room up top for the lights to be raised.

I think you could do that. It would cost you a little canopy room, but not much. I would still train the plants low if you have HID lights. Some strains really stretch during flower. You’ll still only be able to raise the lights so far in a 60" tent.

@KJ yea 60inch wish I would have gotten taller but I haven’t seen one in a 2x4. So I’m thinking I have to route it from the bottom up on the side or the lights would’nt raise high enough. Also I only plan on one plant. 2 tops. But for my first grow I’m doing one. 1 plant I’m guessing is good for personal use and a friend or 2?

Here’s a good one:
TopoLite 48"x24"x72" Grow Tent Room Reflective Mylar Indoor Garden Growing Room Hydroponic System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07921DGBX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gGVaCbSMTNVY2

It may be a good investment for a future grow. But you should be OK with the one you have of you mount your ventilation system vertically on the side. You’d still have room for a nice -sized plant. Even two if you didn’t want to veg too long.

It’s hard to predict yield. There are a lot of variables. If everything goes pretty well, the plants have a decent environment (temp, humidity, lighting, ph, ventilation, etc) and you have a full canopy with a good number of bud sites, it woildnt be unreasonable to expect a few ounces or more from a 4x2 tent. I would look into SCRoG. It can really help you maximize limited space by developing a flat canopy with multiple bud sites. That will increase your yield. So will good lights. More light=denser and heavier buds.

I think an expert could probably grow a pound in a 4x2.
