@KoolHandLuke yes that’s the one I’m ordering. It seems like it would be adequate at 18" in bloom for a 4or. If I expanded to a 4x6 and wanted to add another board could I wire a third board (single heatsink) together with the double? Or do I buy a board and replace heatsink with a triple or quad? Btw…what do u use for seedlings?
Mounting single board on double heatsink shouldn’t be a problem. But wiring to different drivers may be. Depends on exactly what you’re trying to do. Scrolling through im not sure i have a clear picture.

@neofraud_811, please explain exactly what you’re doing. I’m getting a bit lost .I thought the plan was 2-2x4 rooms with storage in the middle. I gave you links for a HLG rspec DIY . Now what are you asking because I want to make sure I’m giving you correct info.

That was the plan @KoolHandLuke but there has been obstacles and opportunities that have been presented since I started that had me changing things. I have a buddy that grows local and he said the same thing as Davy did do my starters inside and since I am running 20/4 on the autos just make a 4x4 for the girls with a 2x4 for materials. I only have 6’ of room across peak to do a 8’ tall room. I know I’ve changed plan a couple times but I’m trying to get it worked out before Monday when I start building.
You can start with one HLG ( 2 board rspec )but you need 2 for the 2nd half of veg and flower
Ok @KoolHandLuke. Thanks for your patience and advice. I have one last question…do you start your seeds in water or straight away in soil? I hope that in a couple years I have enough knowledge to help a newbie the same way all you guys have helped me. I’m going to do a grow journal for my 1st so we will see how it goes😁
@neofraud_811 There are many ways to start seeds, but this is the way I do it ,and I’ve had good luck with this method
Day 1
Soaked seeds in peroxide 30mins and then soaked in tap water for 24hrs, Dark and warm place (If they crack their shell skip #2)
Day 2
placed in damp paper towel (the cheap kind ,the good ones have cloth fibers and the taproot gets tangled in it) in tupperware bowl. Or clamshell the towel between 2 plates
Day 3
plant taproot with the root down, 1/4"down and just sprinkle soil on top in clear solo cup ,put holes in the bottom and some in the sides half way down ,water( 6.5ph) do not soak. place clear cup inside a red solo cup. My girls break ground in a day.

So, I’m halfway through building my room, I went oversized on my ventilation and filter, I ended up going with the triple heatsink and 2 of the 288s so I can spread em and I plan on upgrading later. Look at what I paid!! I was wondering what your thoughts were on an idea I have. I am thinking about adding a specific board since I’m growing autos and I only get 4 weeks of veg. I was also wondering about heights you use for your lights. Hellraiser did a great job explaining when and how but nothing on height.

Nice , now these light are powerful. This is what my girls liked for distance , 30” at full blast , 18” if you turn it down to 50%. for veg

@KoolHandLuke, yeah sorry man autocorrect changed it from BSPEC to specific. I was thinking about boosting UV. I figured if I got a full kit I could use it for seedlings/clones or add the single board and add it to my triple heatsink as a booster.

DIY kit are made to be upgraded so you can add a board , but keep in mind ,if you add a additional board ( the boards have to match) or a Uv strip it has to be on a different driver . I believe the meanwell driver are auto adjusting and different potential’s and current draw will screw the boards up, @dbrn32 , I’m I correct.

@KoolHandLuke, Ok, thank you. Shouldn’t be an issue than because I am planning on ordering the same QB 288 board just in a UV (BSPEC) version. I have 2 of the RSPECs now.
