Hello to everyone, semi new guy here with a question on lights. I’ve been lurking for a few months and wish I would’ve found the forum a little quicker for many reasons but mostly to help save some cash. Looking for a good durable set of LED lights for a current 2x4 area but possibly have the ability in the future to increase this space to around 4x4 so something that could maybe “grow” with me and my space or small add on light in future. Trying to stay around the $300-$350 but above that is fine for right set. A good time to add that my space is custom built with not much head room. Having to do some interesting training and tie downs to make it work but it definitely works.
I’m currently using 2 that I got used off eBay, no markings and info what so ever on the equipment, only know each covers 2x2 area. They’ve worked really good and have been easy to use so far but after 2 harvest (beautiful and best yet) I can tell an upgrade in lights would make things a lil more lovely and well worth the investment.
I’ve learned a ton over the past 10 months on my own and the mistakes have been awesome as I now know why I shouldn’t do this or that instead of someone just saying don’t do this and that. The past 2 harvest I’m finally getting the results my B.O.S.S (beautiful, opinionated, sassy spouse) has been wanting to see. She’s wanting to see a little ROI before spending more$$.
Definitely look into that hlg 260XL kit best bang for the buck out there and it’s right in your price range then once you upgrade tents just buy another
Bottom photo is Peach Puree CBD taking up the whole 4x4 tent by herself. About 6th week of flowering. Top right of the photo is the main cola which ended up as wide as a volleyball.
Thanks so far sounds like a great recommendation. I wish I would’ve spent the $$ up front a year ago as I’ve “leap frogged” into 2 sets (each better than last) trying to save $ but as always the best way to save money is to spend it up front on great equipment. I love this place and all the info.
My best friend passed away a few years ago and he would occasionally invite me to his grows and I would learn by what he taught but never asked many questions at the time, I really regret that. Trying to make him proud and grow his/our favorites from back in day and a few new ones. Thanks again
We all wish we would have joined before wasting all that cash on subpar lights. My best friend passed away back in May 2009. Our second trip overseas we went to Edinburgh, London and Amsterdam. Fun trip…especially Amsterdam.
He is the one that got me to smoke marijuana. To bad he isn’t with us as he would love what I have grown. And he had a degree in Horticulture. Miss the fat bastage.
I agree, something like qb260 xl, hlg 350r, or even hlg-300L are great option to buy for 2x4 then just grab another if you move to 4x4. You could probably then use your current lights as for veg in your 2x4.
Welcome. As all the guys and gals of they answered say. HLG is the way to fly. I have all hlg lights and won’t. Change I don’t believe so far I’ve had my best buds from these lights. I own 3x 260xls and a scorpion diablo 4x hlg uva 30 bars and 1x far red bulb and love them all. Also I did like u at first I now am the proud owner of 10 blurples that sit in a closet in a corner gathering dust lol.
