So I’ve invested in a quality 1-2 plant grow tent with proper light and fan and filter system, etc. So I’m wondering, what are folks’ view on how best to germinate and care for the plant in her earliest stages?
Should I plant a seed right in the growing medium and put her in the tent (light off, fan/filter running, until she sprouts)? And then? Or shall I germinate with paper towel method and then plant in medium and, I dunno, place her on the windowsill until she sprouts and THEN place her in the tent?
Hi, I’m a newbie (not to plants but cannabis) also but do have 7 plants growing. Had some issues with germination. I ended up getting my price point per seed to $4 so i didn’t fret so much.
In the past 2 months I’ve tried several methods and had some fails. Could be seeds or my errors. I decided i was over thinking it and went back to what i did at the beginning. Paper towel (actually 4x4 gauze) damp in ziplock on top of my cable box. So far so good.
Happy growing. This is a great forum and many well experienced peeps here.
As a newbie myself I’d love to follow your grow.
I should add. I do soak the bean in water for 18 hours before the paper towel, bag, cable box.
I do have it in a small Tupperware container on a seedling heat mat when i soak
I do the water in a shot glass method and wait for the white tail to come out of the seed and then directly into the 5 gallon fabric pot of soil.
There are so many methods on germination of seeds that work very well. Pick one and happy growing
I personally prefer the paper towel method for germination. It’s nice to see the seed sprout before it goes into the medium. Just make sure to keep the paper towels moist but not soaking wet. Once you see the taproot, gently plant the seed in your growing medium.
If you’re going straight into the medium, that’s fine too. Just keep the medium moist and be patient. You can keep the light off until the seedling pops up, and then turn it on once it starts growing. Make sure your fan and filter are running to keep air circulation good.
Either way, watch your temperature and humidity. You want to keep things warm and a bit humid for the seeds to sprout and thrive.
