Found bug looks like ladybug but?

Just found this guy. Looks like a lady bug but has “something” extending out both sides. Never seen a ladybug like this. If it is one.

From what I looked up about the Asian bug, apparently they do eat aphids. I do have some aphids on one plant so I will just let it be.

That is my understanding also. Biggest difference between the two is asian variety bite. It feels like a pinch at best. 19 years ago I worked for an excavating company laying and repairing water/sewer. (Laid pipe and ran hose) when the asian beetles hatch they come in swarms like locust. Biting lil b@stards! It was fine in the trench but up top and in the machines without windowed cockpits, it was not a fun time.

The dark stuff streaming behind is it’s wings. When they just close their shell after flying the wings don’t always get tucked away properly you can watch them open and close a couple of times to get everything settled right.
