@Shadegrown I usually don’t feed her until she is dry and needs water. Do you think I should feed her now anyway?
Yes, but reduce the amount of water (maybe a half gallon) and shoot for a ppm in of 1500.
@Graysin could you please please take a look at the last couple of posts and tell me if you think my girl is starving or nute lock?
I read up a little ways. She looks hungry to me. You probably already answered me before but I’m gonna ask the same things I already did because it’s been a hot minute.
I saw you flushed - why? What was the pH and PPMs before you flushed?
Are you in pure coco coir, Coco Loco, a blend of some kind?
Usually plants look like that because they’re not getting the nutrients they need. Whether that’s hungry or locked out, it’s hard to say without knowing the answers to the above questions ![]()
I’m in FF Happy Frog soil and using the FF trio. I flushed because the ppms coming out were higher than going in. There is a picture of a spreadsheet which gives ppm and ph values for the last couple of days. I have overfeed before and caused nute lockout and afraid to do it again. If you look at some of the pictures you can see the edges are burnt looking. But the leaves almost look to me like at the end when you stop feeding and it pulls the nutes from the fan leaves but this is my second year growing and I don’t feel like I have enough experience to make that determination. But something is definitely wrong. Let me know if you need more information. Below is the numbers. PPM and PH out have multiple numbers as I test the runoff several times during a single feeding.
Also, wanted to mention she is in a small 3.5 gallon fabric pot which is probably pretty packed with roots.
One more thing, I did flush on the 5th with water (Not Sledgehammer). Ran about 1 - 1.5 gallon through and then soaked the pot in a bucket of phd water for about 15 minutes. Took her out and ran more water through and the ppms were higher. That is why there are 2 lines for the 5th.

You’re super smart for checking with @Graysin on this. I’m interested to see what he thinks.
I think you may be right. I think she is hungry. That has been my gut feeling but I don’t feel like I have enough experience to make that call. Hopefully Graysin can help us figure this out. Thanks for all your research, time and effort you’ve put into this. I really appreciate it.
After a flush the plant needs to be given nutrients. It was already hungry prior to the flush because it was likely “locked out” and unable to absorb nutrients.
I would feed until you have about 20% runoff and then let the soil dry as usual
Ah.
I’ll explain what I know and you can take that with what you want.
Generally, I’ve found the liquid trio to be lacking in the P/K value.
In the Nute realm, BB = big bloom, SLF = what?
And by More Bloom is that more BB, or the Alaska Morbloom?
Plants in flower absorb vital nutrients better at 6.5-6.8 in flower. Higher pH is better for absorption of calcium, potassium and phosphorus. I would be comfortable allowing it to drift from 6.6-6.8 and try to reset it down to 6.5-6.6 after you hit 7.0.
If you’re on the 500 scale, 400-700 PPMs seems really light for soil in early-mid flower.
Here’s the FF feed chart. They use the 700 scale, but the idea is the same.
Here’s a chart for converting different TDS scales
To AFG’s point, she’s hungry, my friend. Id be aiming for 900-1200 PPMs on the 500 scale. ![]()
@Graysin @AfgVet thank you so much for the replies and confirming she must be hungry. SLF-100 and Alaska More Bloom. I will try to keep in the proper PH range as suggested and increase the ppms. Your suggestion is to aim for 900-1200 ppm, that is what I want my output to be not input. Is that correct? I will feed her first thing in the morning.
After feeding how do I determine what her next feeding should be? Nutes or plain water?
Does the answer depend on the run off?
Do I feed her 2X per week like Fox Farm suggest aiming for 900-1200 ppm run off and water in between? I water her every day because she dries out quickly.
Does the ppm run off of just water matter? IF below 500, should I add nutes right away or at the next feeding?
Sorry if these questions seem stupid but I am trying to understand and learn as much as I can.
Thank yall so very much for taking the time to help me out. I have been taking care of these babies for 4+ months and in the last couple of days it seemed to go south and I have been freaking out trying to understand what was going on. Yall have helped tremendously. Thanks again and I hope yall have a great weekend.
You’re welcome @Coco27, but I needed to know as much as you did. Thankfully, I get it now. So thanks to @Graysin and @AfgVet for helping us come to a consensus on this!! ![]()

Input should be 900-1200, output will ultimately be a little lower than that if she’s eating right.
Feed and monitor runoff. If it’s trending low (below 700) I’d feed her even if it’s more frequently than 2x a week.
It does. At next watering is fine if a water-only ends up a little low on PPMs.
we’re all just here to learn and grow! ![]()
This is all great information! I feel so much better knowing where to go from here. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
Happy Growing!
Of course! Tag me in any time. Sometimes I’m slow to respond but I try hard to pay attention to SOS tags. ![]()
It seems the reason for your mastery is slowing being revealed to me @Graysin. ![]()

Shade just wanted to thank you for hanging in there with me yesterday and getting some direction. Thanks to Graysin and AfgVet I believe we both learned a bit more about growing. I know I have a long way to go but with all the great people on this forum willing to share their knowledge I am learning. I know I will make more mistakes but thats part of the learning process.
I took your advice last night and fed her about a half gallon. She doesn’t look any worse today so thats a good sign. I also gave all 3 of my girls a good feeding this morning and they are out enjoying the beautiful sunshine and lower humidity we have today.
Hope you have a great day.
No worries Coco. I’m fortunate that my hands have kinda been tied or I would have done lord knows what to mine.
Like you I can tell there is so much more to know that I don’t and am forever thankful for all the totally awesome people on here willing to help. I hope your girls keep looking good and you have a beautiful day today! You’re gonna be saying “cookies are ready” in no time. ![]()
