First time hydro grow help

Welcome to the forum @Ed43758

You’re doing very well I see from that picture. I’ve been using GH Flora trio for over 10 years. I remember back in the ‘80s back when I was in college and reading Ed Rosenthal’s cannabis cultivation handbook. How times have changed since then.

I’ve also followed Dr Bruce Bugbee and his lighting classes at Utah State University.

And Harley Smith and his insights into plant nutriention and hydropontics.

To the Quantum Biology of Photosynthesis.

Just an update
They’re doing a lot better since raising the nutes and lowering the water level. I dont think im going to use the 10in baskets again. Seems like there’s a lot less room for nutes and oxygen. The buckets only have about 2 gallons in them now.

One of the bigger plants started drooping the other day, and i found one root grew extremely long and bunched together growing algae. The rest look normal and are branching out. I cleaned the algae off, and it doesn’t look like it was rotting yet. Now im wondering if i should cut any of the root.

Thanks again for all the help, theres a lot of great info in those videos

I have trimmed the roots a couple of times when first begining. I add hydroguard now it seems to work good for me. The problem with hydroguard that it is kinda expensive, and the shelf life. I also use 16 gal totes and 4 in wide lip baskets. The water stays more stable and roots have more space. I use air 2 stones in each tote. I am setting up another tent now. If you like i will post pics

Yes please post pics. I trimmed the roots on the worst one and ended up losing it. The other 2 that had root rot i was able to save by soaking in 5:1 water/H2O2. I also started using hydrogaurd instead of the king crab. It seems to work a lot better. I added some rapidstart and the new roots look good. The one plant that didnt get rot has blown up. These 10inch baskets in 5 gallon buckets seems like theres way too much hydroton then whats needed. Im going to try the totes next grow

I will make one a reserver bucket, the one with a pump. The other 3 will have plants. I will put in 25 gal water and it flows around. I use a short timer set to evey 20 min and about 1 min on in the res. The best part is more water the easier it is to keep the water stable. The res is easy to check. I would recommend black tots oh. They were sold out so I used red. I wrapped them in aluminum foil to keep out light. The roots needs to be in the dark. The lds will also be covered when complete
