First Time Grower - Need Some Advice

I’m gearing up for my first grow, and still buying supplies. I just ordered 3 strains from ilgm, and I’d appreciate your thoughts on what order to grow the strains in. The strains I ordered are White Widow, Northern Lights and Maui Wowie. Relatively speaking, which would be the easiest, the hardest, and the middle one (and any hints you might have)?

I’ll be growing in soil (Kind soil at the bottom and Ocean Forest on top, in 5 gal fabric pots, Mars-Hydro TS1000 LED light, Gorilla 2’x2.5’ grow tent. AC Infinity 4” fan and carbon Filter.

Thanks! Oh, no problem with ilgm order. I used bank info and my real name.

Sounds like your pretty good. I’ve grown White Widow inside and outside. Nice little plant. How many in the tent?

Either 1 or 2. I’m thinking of doing a scrog, and I don’t know if 1 plant in a 5 gal would fill it up.

@NeoGroR tag, you’re in. Which of the 3 would make the easiest grow?

Ilgm lists the difficulty of each strain with tips on how to grow it. And with that being said, go look at your purchase. Little known fact, it’s not illegal to buy/sell Marijuana seeds in America anywhere. In non legal states it’s illegal to germinate a seed. So the real reason we try to be careful buying seeds is because it’s better no one knows we’ve bought them. Last time I went on vacation to Florida, non legal state. I bought an Oz of toasted and salted cannabis seeds, about like sunflower seeds. We don’t mention competition here, but most the others admit to this fact. You will always get your seeds. It’s not illegal anywhere in the United States to aquire seeds, only becomes illegal some places when you drop said seed in water. Some areas can attempt to charge you with simple possession of a seed. But if there are no stems or vegetation with it. A good lawyer would have it dropped with ease. Ilgm makes it seem like they have to go through more hoops than they actually do. And I hope they do do what they say. Buying the seeds can show intent if flagged. But with all things, always be careful.

I’d start with one white widow. That’s a really small area for two plants.

How tall is your tent?

I believe i seen 2x2x5. One plant in 5 or 7 hal pott will fill a 2x2 with lst

@NeoGroR tent is 5’11” but can be extended to 6’11”

I think Maui gets tall…

Grow out one white widow. You’ll be very happy with your results. When that one is 4 weeks into flower, start another seed in a different area under a different light, so you can have a perpetual grow. You always want one to go into the flower tent as soon as it’s empty. @1968Hippie

Maui Wowie will be your weak spot. It needs a very tropical environment. The other two can probably bend a bit for that, but watch for mold. Mold issues don’t show up in either one so that is good. I will be honest, Maui Wowie gets short listed and dropped on me because of the grow environment. I short listed it again this week for grow 4 and these will go into a large greenhouse rather than a tent. It just seems a bit tricky to manage yet for me. You can store those seeds for next grow and they will be fine. I am just now getting around to ILGM Purple Haze I bought year ago. Stored in refrigerator in dark sealed container and I expect them to be just fine.

Best of luck on your grow and don’t get discouraged. You may well decide to tackle Maui Wowie and it be great. Everyone has a talent with this.

Edited: looking at your tent size, if you grew only Maui Wowie, in Ocean, and kept the humidity up, yeah, I would go for it. I just tend to grow other strains and very few are suitable matches for Mauie Wowie, plus I live in The Land of Enchantment and our rh recently was 5%, but hey, I live in The Land of Enchantment, it is a good trade. :sunglasses:

The reason is that cannabis seed and hemp seed are pretty much identical. Neither seed contains any thc. How can you be charged with cannabis possession if the seed may be hemp?

I know the laws my friend. Just share knowledge when people are worried about buying them online. No one buys hemp seeds by the 10s. It’s not illegal. But it’s better to go unnoticed. Hemp is like soybeans. You aren’t going to just grow a few hemp plants. Would be pointless.

Once you start to get good size plant in a tent can u move it out doors to finish

Well heres something yall may not be aware of… yhe reason seeds are sent to Canada covertly isnt because they may get intercepted in the mail… its because any seed imported into this country is illegal unless it has been certified as safe to enter the country. No viruses, no pathogens, not endangered, not invasive, not illegal. If the seed has not been tested or certified its importation is illegal.

@NeoGroR White Widow seems to be the universal recommendation for a first grow. I’ll do that. I plan to use a 5 gallon with LST or SCROG.

@BUDZ Thanks for the info. ILGM says that all 3 strains are “easy”, but they do indicate that temp and humidity are really important for Maui. I think I’ll save that one for last, until I get some experience.

@KikiGee I think I’ll save Maui for my 2nd or 3rd grow. Once I get some experience with the whole growing thing, I’ll jump on that, The last time I had any of it was in the late 70’s, so I’m excited to grow some. I plan to store seeds in the refrigerator in tight closing silicone containers, and then vacuum packed (using a food saver), I think I’ll also add a few grains of rice to make sure humidity stays down.
White Widow will be my first grow, and thanks to everyone for the recommendations and information!

I’m still waiting on equipment and Kind soil I ordered, so it will probably be a few weeks or so before I actually start my grow, but I’ll let you guys know how it goes. @NeoGroR @retirementJOB @Budz

@K-88 I live in a state where growing is legal, but the requirements for outdoor growing are crazy - can’t be visible from the street, must be behind a fence with a lock on it, etc., so I think I’ll do the whole grow indoors.

Of the three lined up that has the highest yield potential, a good yield is ALWAYS a great reward for the first grow and gives you something to enjoy while going for grow two.
