I’m around day 23 was hoping they would be bigger by now but they tripled in size since Friday
They’re done building their roots, they’re moving on to focusing on that vertical growth now. ![]()

They are doing great and are outside full time now about day 29 of the grow. Any fertilizer recommendations just using earth worm castings now and they seem to be doing fine with just that.
If you’re staying organic, I’d suggest checking out Cultured Biologix - they make some cool organic goodies. So does Roots Organics. I used the roots organics stuff they sent along in a “free” sample pack (I say “free” because it still cost like $8 for shipping). It worked well for my soil lady. I mostly don’t do organic grows, the slow reaction and recovery time in soil just wasn’t for me.
Liquid or dry? I’ve used a couple of their dry products, terp tea bloom and terp tea microbe charge. The microbe charge, despite looking like a good product, had some tiny pebbly stuff that created a bit of a crusty top layer on the soil, but the bloom is ok. Recharge didn’t make for a crusty soil. ![]()
I think all the Roots Organics I had was dry amendments. I’m not ever too concerned with debris or white crusties on my soil surface or exterior of fabric pots. I figure we add a ton of calcium to our plants and it’s gonna end up somewhere if not in the plant.
All true. It just made initial watering a bit tricky since it didn’t immediately soak into the soil, and I wondered if the crust hindered airflow/oxygen to the top of the soil, as little as that might have been.
Maybe I overthought it … wouldn’t be the first time. ![]()
I use that as well in happy frog soil also
Pick up some fox farm bushdoctor sledgehammer as well so you can flush them according to the schedule
Here’s my girls at near 7weeks 2x Hindu Kush, 3x candy kush, 1x gorilla glue all autos as well I didn’t start feeding until about day 30
All LST’d …. A lot lol my first grow as well, mine also started flowering around that size as wel and they they got huge 6plants wall to wall in a 4x4 section in my 4x8 tent
They look great I can’t wait to see how mine turn out started tiger bloom over the weekend
It’s defenitly been enjoyable so far started to see what appears a bit of calcium deficiency on one of the plants so I did a straight water with Cal-Mag, decided to defoliate today a bit and slight lollipopping I saw some popcorn buds that haven’t changed size in a week and a half and decided they weren’t worth keeping, last time I did it they didn’t even notice it and upper buds kept stacking so I decided I wanted to keep the good airflow under and through the canopy, took off about 1/2 a shopping bag of leaves between the 6 plants and can barely notice I touched them haha
I have a gorilla glue auto that’s going out of control even LST and in less than a 1/3 of the size pot of the other 5x,
Looking forward to some updated pics!
I’m having a lot of fun with it had a few bumps along the way. Started them indoors with a pretty weak grow light and transplanted them they were stunted for a while but once I put them outside they really took off. I didn’t do any lst with them just let them do there own thing. I’m not expecting a huge crop but I’ll take what I can get lol. I have two northern lights autos that I started about a week ago and I’m going to try some training with them once they get into the veg stage.
I’m in almost the exact same spot as you are. Today is my plant’s day number 13… as in, I took the seeds out of the package from ILGM, and put them in a cup of water. After about 36 hours I moved the seeds to paper towels labeled with the strain, and left them again for another 36-48 hours. So far, so good, the tap roots were over an inch long, so I planted them in my 5 gallon fabric pots and I’ve been watering with rainwater mixed with a half dose of Cal-Mag, pH’d to about 6.3-6.5, which sits in a 5-gallon Home Depot bucket with a fish air pump and rock dispersers. My soil has stayed around 5.8-6.2 measured with a BlueLab soil/water tester that was correctly calibrated only a day or so before I planted the taproots. The grow media is composed of Coco, perlite, worm castings, and some other ingredients (half strength on everything, bat guano, alfalfa meal, 4-4-4 all purpose and Kelp meal). That was all mixed up in each fabric pot to make sure the mixture was correct.
Since planting the tap roots, I’ve been watering about 60-70 ml of water a day, per plant, 2x a day. The soil is pretty dry at the end of the 12 hours that I leave the plants alone. I’ve been watering at 9a and 9p daily. I just read last night that this is not good, sigh… people say you shouldn’t water on a ongoing schedule, but I really don’t know. So… instead of watering my normal amount last night, I changed it up and gave the plants like 3-4 times the normal water to try and moisten the grow media. i checked the plants this morning, but did not add more water as I normally do. I’m hoping this will help spur some growth, because my seedlings (if that’s the correct term) are less than 3 inches tall at this point (again, today, Jun7, is day 13), they have two main leaves, two super tiny leaves, and the two cotyledons. They just look small, and I don’t know if I’m over watering or under watering… the leaves look nice and healthy green, and they aren’t curling up or down. I feel like I’m missing something or doing something wrong, but I haven’t been able to identify it yet. Maybe it’s on perfect course? Maybe I’m expecting too much? Maybe I’m not patient enough? This is harder than it looks!!!
If they are about 3” tall take a solo cup next time you water, put it over the plant, then water AROUND the solo cup it’ll help the roots grow outwards into the medium. My autos seemed small early but really bushed out at about 3 weeks right when they hit preflower and then just kept going luckily they didn’t get too big or I would have had to move 2 outside , the gorilla glue is growing vertical like crazy in preflower (10 days younger than the rest of the plants) They do grow quite a fair bit in preflower luckily I started LST early in all of them and they all threw out 10-15 tops at least
Over the past 2 days 2 more of the plants are really frosting up on the sugar leaves and tent is getting pretty stinky
today is 7 weeks from sprout on 5 of the autos I’ll probably be updating my grow journal tomorrow if they are ready to be watered they are getting light but I wanted to go at least one more day because next watering will be a sledgehammer flush (I’m using fox farm neuts) and I’ll be adding cal-mag with it. Started cal-mag about a week ago at week 6 when I noticed a few cal def spots on a few leaves
6-8 weeks is my guess. You’re barely gettin’ started.
Today is 10 weeks from sprout all the trichomes are cloudy and a few plants are starting to show a amber one here and there but some of the lower buds still have white hairs and cloudy/ clear trichomes this is a 100 precent indica strain so I really don’t want to let it go much more then this I started trimming all the fan leave today and hopefully tomorrow I can start drying them
I found if my seed/seedling/veg got slowed down on autos due to cold, etc … that it extends to total grow cycle and doesn’t necessarily reduce the yield.
