Haha so u freehand it? Its not a bad thing after u get a handle on ur fluctuations. Doing it blind can be detrimental. Lemme show u how it goes.
Ok from tap my water is 8ish. If i add over 800 ppms of ANYTHING nute related it bottoms out to 4.8ish. Im using baking soda as ph up. And have done so for 12-15 plants now. So know how much it ‘approximately’ takes to bring my pH up. To the point i dont even need a spoon. But that came with practice.
My rainwater is 7 even. So i use it for basic waterings. With a dash of calmag it stays above 6.5. For my heavy girls (with more calmag in their ‘waters’) i use a dash of baking soda and boom. Im in range. Again this is something that took 2-3 months of waterings to get ‘freehandable’
If ur tap is 9ish. And ur freehanding the ph down… but no idea to where (u need a reliable accurate meter for this. Not a cheap $12 ph meter, get that $40 Apera… game changer) you could be bottoming ur ph to the 5s or not going low enough.
All in all. It works. But only when u know about how far to go.
Yeah, this little thing is in flower in a number of different places, but mostly on the main cola. Still under 1 foot tall, but just barely. Nothing stinky yet other than the vegetal smell up close and a vaguely sweet smell in the air.
So here she is 5 weeks above ground to the day. 13 inches from the dirt to the top and a number of little flowers hiding under the top on the main cola. She is healthier on one side probably because I had the top bent over for a few days to expose that side. I am also seeing little suckers growing on the nodes of the side branches.
I just noticed today that the little single leaves (future sugar leaves?) around the flowers on the lower branches are now coming in purple. Looks pretty cool. From what I have seen on here and elsewhere, I would guess that I am like halfway there at 5 weeks two days above ground. How much stretch should I expect from this little auto? I have already gained like 1.5-2 inch since it started flowering about a week or two ago.
Nope. First pistils mark the start of transition. Transition is usually 10-14 days. When u see buttons/crowns ur in flower.
@jdm61 that 70 day from seed thing is a lie. U have 70 days of flower alone usually. Most autos take a month before they flower. So thats more like ~100 from seed. Readjust ur harvest window accordingly.
That purple is genetic and beautiful. Dont think deficiency, if fine. Looking gorgeous. And u look to be at 4-5 weeks into flower. U sure ur 5 weeks from seed?? Thats amazingly quick flowering. When did u see first pistil again? Sorry im on alotta threads
That was 5 weeks from sprouting above ground, a couple of days short of 6 weeks from seed going into the glass of water. I am at 7 weeks from seed today. Seed got wet on Wednesday, into the pot on late Friday night or Saturday, above ground on Sunday. I don’t know when I saw the first pistils, I just noticed the first little “buttons” As for purple, I was wondering if the earlier rhubarb colored reddish-purple petioles and bottoms of the leaves were a deficiency? I am not getting those anymore. At around 14 inches, the plant not seem be getting much taller, but the side branches seem be growing faster. The plants a tad lopsided, so the growth of the largest branch seems to be bedding the main cola over a tad. Also, one of the little tops that were light green has now gone darker like the rest of the plant. I I counted the little tops yesterday and I appear to have 10 in addition to the main cola. I shouldn’t be complain. it may be a tad stunted, but it looks like it is going okay for a firs real grow and ghetto gear. So do you really think that I have another 6 or 7 weeks to go? I ask because I have read that this strain is VERY fast flowering, hence the name. Supposedly, some pro growers get harvests as little as 8 weeks and occasionally in 7.
Yeah, pretty much overnight. She was doing the indoor/outdoor thing, but only outdoors for a few hours a day until this past weekend. She is now spending 9-10 hours a day outside. Temps are mid 80’s outdoors as opposed to mid 90’s like when she was a wee lass. That zapped her one day when she stayed out for like 5 hours and it was over 95! Taco leaves!!! Indoors temp is alway 79 indicated.
I just ordered the 500 gram “free” sample of Megacrop. Can I use a little of that on her at this stage to maybe get some more size?
O yea. Ive been only using the last of my megacrop this grow. N calmag… but so far so good. U may want a more bloom heavy booster shot for her in a couple weeks
Thanks. If I can get her over 18 inches tall at this point, I would be happy. I was thinking that the sunburn early on had severely stunted her. This strain is supposed to top out typically at like 27 inches.
So how long should a pound of Megacrop last me if I am only growing one plant at a time a 3 gallon pot?
You mentioned the smelting almost a month ago. She is still not very stinky at all, but she kind did smell like lavender or rosemary a couple of days ago on my fingers when I touched the flowers, Now she is getting some of the generic sweet smell back again to go with the herbal smell.
I was checkng out some grow diaries for this strain. While my plant appears to be skinnier than some, likley because of inadequate LST,it is about the right height. It also appears be the REALLY dark purple pheno as the others don’t seem to go that color until the end… One plant that I saw was bushier than mine but the same height in week 6-7. What was freaky is that is grew from 13 inches tall to 22 inches by week 9!!! I did not know that indica autos stretched that much. Most of the grow diaries had them ready for harvest in weeks 9-10. One had what appears to be identical pheno plants, but they finished 1.5 weeks apart and yet both had about the same yield. Interesting stuff.
