First grow, jacks nutes, could use some guidance

I have this epsom salt, it’s says it’s pure magnesium sulfate but then says “10% MAGNESIUM + 13% COMBINED SULFUR FERTILIZER “ not sure if that’s what I want.

Is this a good substitute for the jacks epsom salt or should I just return and get jacks?

Just get some from the grocery. Make sure what you get isn’t scented.

I do what @MidwestGuy does.

Okay thanks!

Is day 21 too early to start defoliating lowest leaves (the first two sets of leaves they get as seedlings) I’d imagine I’ll eventually take them off so is it wise to do it sooner rather than later to avoid wasting energy to those leaves?

I just ignore them. They eventually fall off.

Hey hope you’ve been well man. Had a question. Got this for gnats, does this work? I saw it gets rid of them. Only have seen one or two but didn’t want it to become an issue

Yes, it is commonly used to manage insects.

The most common cause (attractor) of gnats is overwatering. Be sure that you are letting your soil dry out between waterings.

At week 5 from seed. Water about every 3days. Maybe I should put another day in between.

Do I just sprinkle the DE on top of the soil?

Yeah just put it on top. You could even get you some sticky traps to put in there as well

@Olpacdonald You can also get some mosquito dunks or bits, put a couple tbls of it in water and soak them overnight, then ph water and water your plants with this, it will kill the larva and break their cycle. Yellow sticky pads will catch a lot of adults too. Your DE must be dry to work, I don’t care for how it cakes up when wet. Hydrogen peroxide in water will also kill larva, but will also kill good bacteria in soil. The dunks and stickies will work well, with no side effects.

That is gorgeous! Looks like a christmas tree with big crystal lights

Hey @Myfriendis410, I used Jacks exclusively for my first grow and did OK but would like to use silica for the next. Using Jacks feed schedule as written, how much silica would you recommend per gallon as a guideline? dry or liquid? I’ll be using FFHF as the medium and they will be ILGM autos. Thanks in advance gromie.

I use the minimum dose using Silica Blast: 3 ml per 5 gallons. But I use it from first feeding to last. It appears to keep enough on hand for the plant to access and use.
