First Grow (Indoor Tent) - Advice is most welcome!

So if I grab a 3rd light and stick with 2 plants on my first grow, it should be enough light? Or is what I have currently enough for 2?

If it were me, I would stick with the two lights that you have and grow two plants, one under each light. I have a feeling that when you’re done with your first grow, you might want to pick up an upgraded light so I would not buy another small 100 watt.

What you have currently will take your two plants through veg. Wait, learn, and decide later. You have probably 2 months before you need to make a decision.

I honestly have just used Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil and Fox Farm liquid trio nutrients and cal-mag and I’ve had no issues at all with the autos I e grown so far. The tent u have will absolutely provide everything u need as far as an environment to grow in, all u need is some soil, nutrients and cal-mag and some pH up/down and a pH meter and tds meter
It sounds like alot but it’s not. Depending on what size bottles u get for nutes and pH up down, ur looking at maybe $100 altogether if u go for the cheap yellow pH meter, small bottles of nutrients and pH up/down, and 1.5 cubic foot bag of Fox farm soil

If you run a sog you need a tray system.
The “1pot” system you typically see is not all they got.

Check this out.

Buy just the trays and a valve for each tray.
Use your own grow bags and make a reservoir out of a big trash can or tote…

Check out their actual website not a 3rd party distributor.
They have alot more cool stuff on their sire tjen you see other places

If you put that coco in autopots it frees up your schedule, just saying

You will do just fine with 2 of them my freind…

3 would be better of course, but again, not necessary to get some good nugs.

If you’re like everyone else, you will be buying another tent set up to expand before to long and this set up you got first will become a “veg tent” which those lights can veg the hell out of that tent.

But you can always get a badass flowering light fir the next go

I am likely going to pick up a 3rd light and another tent. You are right. This is just the start for me. I am thinking the next tent (like 2x4x4 or something) I can use to start my plants off, and then move them to a bigger tent to flower once they start growing taller. So the third light wont be a waste.

Honestly, more than anything else, I just need my first grow to exceed my consumption.
So it looks like I will be growing Super Lemon Haze Feminized. Which apparently takes about 9 weeks from start to finish (which I assume actually means 12-14 weeks). In order for this to make sense for me I have to be able to out produce my weekly habit which is about 1oz per week.

This will free up the weekly $$$ I am hemorrhaging to support my habit and buy more growing equipment. My assumption is this will take longer than advertised and produce about half what is advertised. We will see how it goes.

I hope to be so wrong though and become a regular around here. lol

That 9 weeks is start to finish of the flowering period . . . add 3-6+ weeks for seedling/veg and about 10 days for transition and you’ll be close.

You’ll be able to easily exceed your own demands . . . it will take you a few runs to get everything dialed in and see consistent harvests but it’s 100% worth the time and money. Soon you’ll be smoking better than you can buy for the cost of water and electricity . . . and if you’re like me, the wife will happy take care of the weed $$$ you saved by growing your own.

That is like 14-16 weeks from seed to pipe! I have absolutely 0 confidence that my first yield will be even close to that many ounces lol. My expectation is if i do not screw it up too bad, with my 2 plants, maybe 10-14oz.

Seed to harvest. Harvest to pipe adds dry and cure time. First few grows will test patience like nothing you’ve ever seen

I got my tent today. I was super excited to put it together.
But then I noticed they didnt include all the pieces. There should be 3 different pieces, besides corners and hanger bars.

8x Part A, 4x Part B, and 4x Part C. I got 8, 8, and 0. So no part C’s to attach to my Part B’s. Now I have to wait on them to fix this horse crap.

And you all have my interest piqued with this “AutoPot” talk. This sounds cool. Is this reliable? Is it more effective than managing it yourself? Is this “the way” to go?

Pretty much everyone who uses them likes them, but there may be some survivorship bias going on. I don’t think they’re for me, though. I enjoy the watering process, and the near-inevitable eventual leak would play holy hell with my grow area.

My advice is this - don’t try and get everything you think you might need now. Get the mandatory stuff and get one grow under your belt. I would not have some of the things I have were I to do it over again. Watch what works (and doesn’t work) for other people and make your plans for the next grow after a couple months of doing. So much stuff makes a ton more sense once you’ve done it once.

I do not expect to enjoy the watering process, rather I just see it as a necessary chore. I am not really excited for that aspect as I believe it to be the thing I will most likely screw up the most. And as far as leaks go, I am not concerned as my grow room will sport a concrete floor and my tent will be about 18 inches from a drain. There is 0 chance of a water mess with my setup.

Best get the details from @1HappyPappy, then. Sounds like you’re their target customer base.

LOL! So you think my lack of faith in my ability to properly water my plants is a good enough reason to do the Autopots? Being funny or being serious? Again, I do not mind investing money as long as I am raising my odds of successful yields. Thanks so much for all your time in this conversation.
I am going to start a journal as soon as I get confirmation my seeds have shipped. I hope to see you there. Something tells me I am going to need all the expert advice I can get. :stuck_out_tongue:

A few days ago I was completely worried that this was going to be an absolute failure and loss of cash. You all have me thinking I can pull this off now. Great community lol

Absolutely the best decision I made.

Absolutely if you can afford it then thats just 1 good reason imho .

You’re worry is justified, this is one of the biggest things many growers struggle with especially in the beginning…
Honestly man I’m never the “fan boy” type of stuff.
But i can not say enough about my autopots .
The simplicity, peace of mind, and omfg the growth rate is ridiculous!
