Damn, I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather. I’m in Florida myself we are getting hammered right now.
Your environment sounds just about perfect. I would throw out any breeder time-frames or stuff you have read and start looking at the trichs now. Watch them develop and cloud up. Make sure you are looking at the calyxes and not the sugar leaves. The biggest rookie mistake with harvest is probably doing it too early, I did it on my first couple plants and I’ve watched tons of people here chop against advice. I harvest with little to no amber but that’s dealers choice as far as that goes.
I appreciate it. He beat Leukemia, bacterial pneumonia and heart failure only to succumb to this fucking virus. It’s maddening. Anyway.
Harvesting too early is my concern and want to make sure they are cloudy and amber. I’m more of a couch lock type of person. I am really pleased how well the buds are fattening up along the stems. I cannot wait to start the next two after this harvest is dried.
You should start watching Triches , and get some experience gauging them, but it still looks early. Breeder times are just a suggestion more or less, and in some cases are not even close! Usually I start the breeders time when I see them forming buds, and then start checking, but watching them will gain you knowledge of different strains.
After further and a more careful examination of the main stem buds and a few of the outside areas, I am seeing clear and cloudy triches. What a gorgeous plant. I’ll hold off on another update until next week.
@holmes@Eagles009 Now that the triches are all cloudy, I’ve been reading that it can take 5-7 days up to two weeks for the amber to take hold. When would you two start looking to begin flushing?
We are now at day 42 of flower so I’m a little surprised at how cloudy they are.
If I was looking at fully cloudy trichs and was interested in a two week flush I would get on it. I’ve never seen a plant with fully cloudy trichs and zero amber though. Usually get a few stray Ambers before full cloudy. Is this the first plant your judging trichs on for harvest? Try looking at the same calyx from different angles and lighting and make sure they are solid whitish and not more half and half.
@Eagles009, Yes, first trichs to gauge and I’ve looked online at various strains and their trich formation. Last weeks post, they were all fully clear, today, they are cloudy. I’m shooting to harvest when 30-40% are amber and from what I’ve read and from what I’ve been told, it could be 7-14 days at most. Just wanting to get your growers experience.
My guts telling me they are not fully cloudy. Still some white hairs coming in, orange hairs not yet receding, and going from clear to fully cloudy in one week would be a new one by me. Your the only one that can see them though. If they are fully cloudy I’d start your flush. In two weeks you should have a good bit of amber. Just keep an eye on them you could always feed again at some point if you aren’t where you want to be in a couple weeks.
I’m in no hurry and I’ll take your advice and keep checking them over this next week. I’m using a 50x field scope and have been checking the calyx’s. I’ll check them again here in a bit and make sure I’m not seeing anything I just want to see. I saw cloudy triches and was like, YES!
