That’s the gen 1 strip. To be honest I’m surprised they even have them in stock. I believe the gen 2 strip is a little cheaper and a little better performance.
ok, so I am thinking 6 x BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-B3, each spread apart 3/4" running long-ways (not even sure this is a word) parallel to the grooves… Just trying to figure the driver(s) now, would there be a need for dimmable?
The part number listed is 22” 3500k gen 2 strip. That’s what you’re looking for right?
It’s probably the strip I would recommend due to cost. I’m just making sure it’s what you want too?
Dimmable not that important with the strips as long as they’re not over powered. You can adjust height to change light intensity. And the dimming driver would cost a little more.
Yes, that is what I am looking at… Because the cost is so low, i could probably do more strips (10 probably)… Or would you suggest going with the 12" strips and run them perpendicular to the grooves?
You definitely want them on the grooves, so there is aluminum under the entire strip. That’s how it will transfer the heat.
Going with the 280mm strips you’d be able to get a little better spread with the light. You would still mount them parallel and on top of the flat parts of aluminum. You would just put half at one end and half at the other.
560’s will work too. Whatever you feel is better fit for you. Just need to know as the currents are different and will require different drivers.
Yay i followd the convo again! Back to day 1 sucks but lighting makes u feel ![]()
And the drawing is AWESOME! I always sketch out my plans. For ANYTHING ![]()
I would go with b or c. Leaning towards c if you have or are getting a 2x4 tent. Would be b for something like a 3x3.
If you decide which design you wanna go with, I’ll see what fits for drivers.
How many of 15/16” flats are on each piece of that extrusion?
There are 12 per row @dbrn32 . I am thinking 16 of the 280mm… 8 per half. option c.
How about 14 strips and 7 per half? Reason I ask is because a meanwell lpc-150-500 would be a real nice driver there, but won’t run 16 strips.
yep, I think that would be fine! I know that you are not supposed to care as much, but what wattage would I be pushing with that?
Or better yet, teach a man to fish… is there a calc. i can do to get that info?
Volts x amps= watts.
In this case, you’ll have 14 strips that have forward voltage of about 20 vdc at 500ma output current. You’ll wire them in series for a total circuit voltage of about 280 vdc. Multiply that by current .5 amps, will be about 140 watts on the dc side of driver. That driver should run about 90% efficient for you, so you need to account for energy loss. 10% of 140 is 14 watts.
So figure around 155 watts at wall.
Perfect! Thanks a ton @dbrn32.
How close are you to ordering parts? You’ll need couple other things, and there’s some stuff that will make job a lot easier.
I would like to order ASAP, is there a specific list from digikey specifically? I am thinking driver and led strips are all i need from there?
Thanks!
You will be better off getting rest of stuff elsewhere, not even sure if digikey will have it.
Before you order, check arrow electricinics. They are showing a little more for strips, but they ship overnight for free. I’m guessing may be a little cheaper than digikey, and you will get them most likely on Friday.
Sweet! Comes up to $88.76 on arrow. Just need the tape, hanging hardware and some wire, then I should be all set! Will have to post pictures of the final light! Before I pull the trigger, just have to ask, will this be better than an average Chinese light that pulls around the same wattage from the wall? The blurple ones?
