Nice! What strain, CFL grow?

It’s Lemon Skunk. She should be almost done stretching, too. It really depends on the strain, too. But I’m confident you can get a few ounces in that space pretty easily.

I use LED bulbs and take the dome/diffuser off. These are 23 watt, 4000k to help with the stretching.

I top once there are five sets of leaves, after the cotyledons, and I take off down to the 3rd node, leaving 3 sets. You’ll get six branches, usually, from that. If you top each of those, 12. Then focus on spreading all those branches out and letting her grow a little…then flip! This one actually got FIMmed by the cat though lol

Hmm interesting. Comparing the strain info on Leafy I guess maybe this strain could possibly be easier to train and such for the height consideration:

Time will tell but I will definitely need to take advantage of the height restricting grow techniques.

I would plan on flipping as soon as possible, once you have the plant growing the way you want. AK-47 is going to stretch a lot.

This is an auto seed so I was under the impression i’m not going to have much control over that. May be a reason to give photos a shot at some point.

Dammit…I do only photos, and I keep missing or forgetting that detail and misleading people :frowning:

I know there are folks on here that do all of the above with autos. @anon35207245 is the only one that comes to mind right now, but I know there are others.

Check it out guys, she’s on a mission!

I know the soil looks soaked, just watered today due to it being bone dry. pH of the water tested to around 5.6. Still need to grab a digital thermometer/humidity display and a dehumidifier before flower. Still keeping my fingers crossed that my limited height works out!

Sorry I took so long to reply. Fighting side effects of a new medication and it is a hard time. I couldn’t concentrate enough to drive last week.

I have found that Amazon has 2x2x5 reflective tents by Yield Labs that was pretty good quality.

I grow a lot in a 17x18x60 inch home-made wooden grow box that has done really well for the last three grows. I am a wood worker and had a lot of good grade plywood available with nothing to do with it. In the 17x18x48" version, I have gotten an average of 2 oz of pot per grow. I super crop and top a lot. Along with LST all the time. I added a 12" ā€œapartmentā€ (addition) to the top during my skywalker OG grow because the plant got so large.

I’m not sure how I missed your grow(s) in the box, @TxGrowman, could you tag me in your journal, please?

I’m sorry to hear you’re having a hard time with your meds. I hope you get it all straightened out. :v:

Way cool bro It almost looks like we planted on the same day my girl is exactly where yours is. I set this to watching also. I will tag you in my grow journal and we can compare notes. She looks good
I just got a new grow tent from amazon its a 32x32x63 tent it was only 55.00 its made by Cool Grow. Very nice quality tent

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Here is a quick update from today.

The below pic is a close-up of the top:

Lots of growth occurring lower on the main stem it seems like, not much stretching at all, i’m sure I will have to start thinking about quite a bit of trimming soon:

I’m trying not to get complacent, but she seems to need little supervision:

Anyone think I should start hitting her with nutrients yet? I failed at planting the seedling in the middle of the pot also apparently.

Depends on the soil she’s in if she needs nutes. She looks good.

These are the two that I had good journals on. Hope this helps.

Quick update, check her out guys:

I should have made note of the day I began germination, however at this point i’m around 3 weeks. This girl is getting thirstier for sure. Quite exciting seeing the explosive progress. I am going to pick up my digital thermometer and some of those training hooks this weekend. You guys think I should consider topping and removing all of the lower bushy nodes soon?

Edit: I am also definitely already noticing a strong scent is beginning to develop as well. I have a feeling this is going to reek come flower. Here’s to hoping my exhaust setup helps reasonably well. :joy:

Update:

So i’ve been quite busy with work as of late but continue to monitor the girl closely while being careful not to obsess. I’ve continued to heed prior advice and abstain from using any nutrients at this point and she’s still looking good to me. I think the MG soil amendments may last quite a while as far as that goes.

I do believe i’ve managed to top her successfully from the looks of it:

The vertical growth hasn’t been ridiculous, I think the topping may have helped restrict the stretching:

I’ve also began some conservative defoliating on the lowest mini fan leaves, this next chunk on the second node towards the center of this picture is probably getting chopped next:

I have a feeling she’s going to go at least 3 months at this point most likely.

@raustin @TxGrowman @elheffe702 @Rayofsunshine

Take a look at these pictures, the first one I touched up showing the current shape of the main stem:

And here is how I currently have the plant placed in relation to the light:

The way my seedling sprouted I feel that I did not plant it as near the middle of the pot as I should have and possibly not at the perfect angle with the taproot from the beginning. Regardless, in my mind if I attempt to keep the plant further to the left then it will naturally grow towards the light correct? with my limited vertical height I believe this may actually be beneficial as the plant growing at a slight angle may save me a couple inches of height ultimately, at least this is my wishful thinking.

What do you guys think?

It probably will begin to tilt toward the light, but I would put the light directly above her, then she’ll grow straight.
