Exhausting humidity

@PhotoFinisH thanks for clearifying. im just going off things i read online. old post iv found actually here on this forum. i actually went with a 4" just two month ago when i bought this second tent ( my first is a 2x2) i did the math a a 203 cfm was enough for a 2x4… apparently not. im aware the filter kills proficiency. i actually took it off while i snd the dehumkidifiuer back and await my next step. guess i can add the 4" exhaust fan to the pile thats starting to accumulate… the plurple light, the humidifer that doesnt run on auto anymore etc lol well maybe i can add th 4 inch xhaust to th 2x2 veg tent. then instal a 6 in the 2x4

I have a 4" Vortex VTX (good strong centrifugal fan, will move 220cfm at static pressure, probably moves 150 through my cab taking some losses into account), my diy carbon filter is built with flow in mind, & my intake is flowed for minimal losses, & the VTX is just enough for my 2x2.5x8 in the summer with a/c going. Their 6" does twice as much, so I’m guessing a good 6" fan would be enough for yours. Go 8" if concerned.

I have 6" AC Infinity fans in my two tents, and an 8" in my 4x6 closet grow. I normally have this monster filter hanging from the ceiling above the grow light, but this run of autos are so tall I had to set it up like this temporarily so I could get the fixture as high as possible. I literally have 2 autos in this run that are 7 feet tall including the 7 gallon pots they’re in.

Nice, that looks like it can handle some flow. I like that they offer longer options for better flow. Sounds like they use some sort of cone shape inside to taper flow for even distribution. I choked my diy down with three stages of outer filter because I had that problem at first. Fan would pull most of the air through the first half of the filter.

Pic is tough to make out, but you can definitely see the cat hair it catches. Actually, you can see cat hair on everything in my home.
I just had an omelet for breakfast. It had bacon, onions, potatoes, peppers, and cat hair, lol.

Im going to try that dont have pet hair but as much dust as the fan blade accumulates it has to help.

It’s perfect for trapping dust, and it’s made specifically to reduce airflow as little as possible.
Just a note, the green stuff from Home Depot is far superior to the ripoff brand blue stuff on Amazon. I ended up getting lazy a couple of years ago and bought what I could find online instead of a 20 min trip to Home Depot. The blue stuff definitely restricted my airflow, so I had to make the trip to HD anyway.

This is my passive air intake location into my 4x6 closet grow after about 2 weeks of the fan running constantly on a high speed. Look at what would be in my grow space without this stuff, yuck, lol.

I use it everywhere, I even have a narrow strip of it across the door buck to catch dust/hair that tries to sneak in under the door.

I remember reading somewhere that running a tent exhaust fan like the AC’s withOUT an intake filter voids the warrant for exactly this reason.

@Cap_Ron Is that green filter stuff found in the furnace filter section of the store, or is it repurposed from something?

Yes, it’s in the regular HVAC filter section of the store.
I had never heard of a cut to size and washable filter until I bought a mobile home. It’s actually the filter that my heat and AC unit uses, and then I got the idea to cut it up and use it for the grows.

Sorry I was referring to the circulation fans.

I have a weed tray I break up on. Idk how my cat hairs Ive burned.
I was at home Depot today. And I saw some 4 inch dryer vent pipe that had a hood. I. Thinking I can put that 4 inch vent pipe (although I’d prefer 6) the. Some of that green filter. It’s def gotta be enough to block the light.

Hang a short piece of duct tubing off the one side, let it droop downward. It’ll act like a light trap. If you can get it black in the inside, that’d be better
