Easter Babies Update: Big bud broke ground

Western Australia! Wow, this truly is a great site. My husband has been few times, I never have. I’m in upstate New York, today it’s 70 but going down to 40 at night. I have a heating mat but it’s not what they advertise, for me anyway. Don’t want to get heater right now cause it will be warm soon and I worry about blowing fuse but no getting around it in winter. I can’t believe I’m growing weed st 61, wish I started sooner, haha cause I sure love smoking it. Just had X-rays, inconvenient for sure. There sure is a lot to this but worth it if we can grow buds like seen on this site. Stay in touch

I’m 61 and I wish I started growing sooner but my husband always said no. Now that I’m not working, seems timing is right and don’t want to buy expensive crap anymore. This site is great and I’m glad there are female growers, not just me. My husband is electrical engineer so he’s been helping me, never could’ve set 6.5 ft tent up alone, I’m 5.2. These girls sure are sensitive when so small. I’m taking pic soon, need to know they’re ok. Think they need closer to light as well. Nice chatting, stay in touch

@bonnie1 Hi Bonnie, I’ve got 10 years on you. I’d never smoked pot in my whole life until someone gave me some to try last summer for my migraine headache. I have dropped 4 of the 5 prescription drugs I was on for migraines. The only one I take now is a preventive, probably don’t need that one either. Growing it myself was the best solution, at least you know what you’re smoking.

You got that right. I’m paying big bucks here in rip off New York. I’ve had a lot of chronic illness since age 16 so started smoking back in 70s but only periodically. Now marijuana helps every ailment I have. I have friend that get migraines, wish she smoked! Lol… good chatting and happy growing

Also wanted to tell you that my soil was purchased at a farm store, organic with everything in it already. All I did was read that was good soil. I read to switch to compost organic soil next transplant but have to read more about it, not sure

@bonnie1…You are not alone! I am a 62 female and I’m on my second grow! Beats paying for the stuff which has worked better than prescription medication for my back issues. Even my doctor wants me to keep her informed on my growing to let her other patients know; she and my nurses are very happy that this is working so well for me (I lost 11 lbs since I switched off the meds and onto the weed!) and much less pain!

@bobbi and @ Bonnie1…Yeah I wish I would have known a few years ago how good this stuff works! I have gone off all my prescription meds for my long list of back problems and I find that not only do I feel and look better but I am in less pain!

That is fantastic! Wish people would get with it here in New York, could be much richer state and more medical marijuana knowledge and science for cancer, aids, etc hate Trump, he’s wrecking the US. Anyway how was your first grow, good pot? Did you yield enough for yourself before your second grow? One plant has little brown on edge of leave, do you know if that’s bad? Lots of questions, good talking, enjoyed

Yep, lady growers galore. I’m in MA, happy for the new state legalization! My plants are a little two months from sprout, and this forum has been very helpful. :seedling::ear_of_rice::woman::older_woman::leaves:

Wow, this is grea! So glad to chat with everyone and know their stories. You are very lucky, no new legislation here. Take some pics, I would like to see what 2 months looks like. Happy growing

@bonnie1…lol lol I had a million questions during my first grow! Ok, my first grow was an auto White Widow and out of the 2 seeds I planted only one grew (the other was stunted and did not produce). However, the one plant was great, had tight nodes, and produced about an ounce. Technically it is still in the curing stage for the next couple of days but I have been smoking it for a good two weeks now. It is good! My second grow, which is on this forum (just look for Second Grow White Widow) is going into its flowering stage already and both plants are doing great! Watch your leaves for curling (clawing) that is a sign that you are fertilizing it too much so back off the fertilizer and just give it water until those leaves uncurl. A little brown on the edge of one leaf, I wouldn’t worry too much but just make sure your lighting is not burning the leaves …it could be that. I’ve had to adjust my lighting several times and this second grow started on April 1st. Watching your leaves will give you tell tale signs if something is not quite right. If you are smart you will post weekly pictures and the “experts” which there are a few on this forum will tell you if there is something wrong…heed their advice …they are very good and very helpful. Trump is a dump if you know what I mean and is going to ruin this world before he is finished! But that’s just my opinion! I live in Massachusetts and as soon as it became legal here I started my first grow. I use weed instead of the large amount of prescription drugs I was on for severe back issues and you know I feel and look better than I did before; I’ve also lost 11 lbs. My doctor and nurses are aware that I am smoking weed and growing it and they are very interested in what I am doing and ask many questions wanting to pass the information on to other patients who are considering the switch to weed. At 62 I am happy that I can take something that is much better for my body! And it is a hobby that is very interesting…what equipment…what type of seeds to get, etc. I have learned a lot in the last couple of months that’s for sure! Mainly, I feel so much better and I am able to do so much more than what I could do before! So good luck to you…this forum is very helpful and it is nice to meet another female who is doing the same thing I am!

@bonnie …I post pictures each and every week on Saturdays…check out my forum on my Second Grow White Widow

@Lia…I’m in Mass too! And a female…glad to see you on this forum and good luck with your grow…post pictures…every week…you then will see a huge difference in how much your plants have grown! I keep a grow journal on here …had one for my first grow and now again on my second grow…that way you can actually see the differences in each grow!

Oh, yes, I’ve been creeping on your journal all along!

Pictures galore in my journal, called something like 1st grown KISS method down the drain. Because I thought I’d keep it simple. :joy::laughing::wink: No such thing, turns out.

I thought I’d just buy the bare minimum to get by but found out differently. Go big or go home. You have to have all the right tools and nutrients or you might as well forget it. I did luck out on the tent, it was a new 6’ 4" x 4’ x4’ and very hard to put together. Hubby ripped out a few stitches in a seam because fabric was tight fitting. I repaired it myself with some really strong thread and it’s good as new. Meanwhile the Company sent me another new tent free of charge which I’m going to sell eventually. One thing I’m finding hard to do is lowing the temperature in the tent at night. I turned off the heater an hour before my bedtime, that didn’t work. I opened up the tent doors wide, that didn’t work because basement is too warm. Tonight I’m trying to blow out all the warm air inside of tent through the the mesh vent with a fan, haven’t been down there yet to see if it worked. How do you all get the temp down in tents at night?

I haven’t fertilized just using organic soil but the leaves did curl but are straight now but 2 amnesia haze have little brown on end of leaves, I think from overwatering. Now I’m misting them and they popped back up straight. I just moved them closer to lights cause getting cold here again this week and it’s 77 in the tent with hygrometer right under lights. I might start one more amnesia haze, can’t take chance. Do you know if the brown will ruin plant? Or can that go away? Worried now, but they do look good. I’ll take another pic when I can get down there with my ankle it’s harder now cause have to move plants to get better lighting. I’ll just smoke some of my expensive good weed for the pain, at least it’s good weed right! I like talking with you

My tent is cold right now at night. I’ve had to bring my plants back and forth from tent to kitchen and it’s not good for them. This week going down to 30!! My heating mat helps, I think I started seeds too early before knew what I was doing and had all the equipment, especially for our weather. My tent is thru basement and into back garage which leads to pool in back yard. Will be warm in summer, I will have the heat problem then. I think fans, ventilation, will help with that. I’m checking on an exhaust pipe, you know like what they show in pics for tent today and I’ve got the inline fan and carbon filter, which my hubby will have to install. You’re right, going big is the only way

Can you put them in a mini greenhouse in the tent with heater? Bob31 uses one that works well for him, then you wouldn’t have to bring them into the kitchen at night. We had snow in the northern part of our state yesterday. I’m a new grower too so not sure about the brown leaves coming back, I would be careful about the misting. I heavily misted my plants and two of the plants were damaged by the lights burning the leaves through the water on the leaves. Bob31 my all around mentor said to just leave them alone, don’t cut them off or I might shock the baby plants. He was right, leaves are unsightly but thriving. Now if I get any water on the leaves, I dry them off carefully.

Welcome @bonnie1

I also Grow in a cool NE basement, and I
keep my seedlings in one of these on a mat. When they outgrow it, I use plastic gallon water jugs, top cut off so it stands like a dome, and opening in bottom so when in dome position light gets in, I do this when I transplant from jiffy cups to solo cups. I only have one tent, so only grow 2 plants at a time. I’m on my second Grow, have been enjoying cannabis for about 35 years

The main thing I learned in my first Grow was how important pH is, so if you don’t already have one, a pH meter is a must. Here is one recommended here that many of us have, it also comes with TDS meter, which comes into play when you begin measuring the nutrient uptake of your plants (something I’m just learning to do)

Welcome again and happy geowing

PS @kapelady nice to see you and so glad to hear your health care team is open to your MMJ use! I went to a MMJ dr for my card, not sure my Dr would approve, but fewer occular migraine, less social anxiety, and DDD pain relief and spasm relaxation and completely off the flexeril!!
