I’ll set back and watch @Screwauger pass along his science, and @TwoLidTony welcome and strap in for a great grow, your doing my next grow for me lol love to sit in. Love to see some pics of your set up and first grow flower.

I think I am going to start experimenting with that, ive being using ANs “ph perfect” but I just started adjusting reservoir ph, I was keeping it at 6.2 since im in promix but havent been looking at tray PH and I will start trying to get it right in the tray instead of the reservoir, my two autopots plants are currently really sad looking so its a good time to mess with them I guess lol, see if that works.
So each of your autopots has its own reservoir? I was just considering this because I’m growing different strains.
How often do you fill and/or fuss with the reservoirs?
When comes flush time for a plant it is very handy to have a 2nd reservoir
basically a rubber grommet and any container should work
so if its only a flushing container dont need to have something huge ![]()
Yes, I tend to run lower ph in the res (5.4 - 5.8) to offset the tray. Have been times I pulled the plant and cleaned the tray in case there was some algea
It varies but that is why I got a spare. PS a kitchen trash can from lowes is almost identical.
About weekly on the fill/fuss. @GreenThunder
So your plants are sharing one res but you have a spare? I was considering letting each plant have it’s own res.
I ordered mine without the res because I’d seen you mention the trash can idea and it was an additional $70 for shipping an oversized piece.
Once again, thank you for this info. It is good, solid info and I am sure you too have seen a lot of bad info on the internet as I have. I don’t know whether you saw where I posted a link for my new exhaust/ventilate system fan but I am pretty jazzed about it. Here it is check it out.
BTW, are you on AFN/autoflower network?
I got a second res when I had plants at different stages of growth. One res grow nutes, the other bloom nutes for specific plants. I have not used my second res since that time though I used it outside this summer to keep an autopot plant going outside.
You just have to drill a hole and get a tophat grommet to accomodtae the 1/4 inch tubing. @GreenThunder
yes occasionally but no active journals. Same username.
Do you use any line clearing agent to avoid blockages? I just copied this from a quick search;
Tip #4: Pick yourself up a line cleaner
The biggest mistake new users can make is failing to use a line cleaner. These amazing products help to remove mineral deposits and algae from your system which is a great way to avoid blockages forming. This is so critical as these blockages can contaminate your system and the algae build up can ruin your plants’ growth! Not just that, but if it’s clogged up especially badly, the whole system could completely shut down! This is especially true if you’re using unfiltered water, line cleaner is a must-have!
Any recommendations? This sage on another forum posted this and I thought it made a lot of sense;
@pop22
taught me when I first started using autopots to get a 60ml syringe and use the to force clean water through your hoses. In addition, he taught me to have a backup set of hoses all made up in case of a clog, pull off clogged, replace with clean and set about cleaning the clogged lines with syringe. @legalizeme
What say you? I think I know.
I started out by purchasing Drip Clean. It’s expensive. I used it for two grows but I still had minor issues.
I know pop22 and I use his method of having a spare/duplicate set of lines on hand and I also use the syringe trick. You just have to keep an eye on your trays, if you see slime or other flaky sediment, do some preventive maintenance on your lines. Unless you go away for weeks at a time, you will likely notice.
I have a piece of wooden dowel that hangs over my res. I placed marks on it in half gallon increments (yeah took some time pouring in half gallon at a time. But I am constantly checking the res level and you get a feel for if they are drinking normally. Level stays the same for a day, check your trays, lines and valves.
That said, I did almost no maintenance last grow and had no issues.
Just making me think I should clean my lines, havent done that in a big while, no issues yet.
Also, just looked at trays and res PH.
Tray 1 : 6.3
Tray 2 : 6.2
Reservoir : 6.3
Guess I dont need to tweak anything yet?
Wow you guys are great. All kinds of stuff I never even considered.
Definitely going to mark up a dowel with fluid volumes and try to keep track of the solution intake once I get to that stage.
And @blackthumbbetty, thanks for the info on the qb’s. I’m really excited to see the differences between high quality LED and blurple for my own eyes
It’s blinding! ![]()
It’s my pleasure to help a grower out.
It’s good you have found the autopots forum at afn, a lot of good growers over there. I am currently watching “Nosias” who is growing auto’s in autopots using mega crop (my next nute choice). Promising stuff.
Folks know I’ve had ups/downs with my autopots but even in spite of root blow-outs, burning with nutes, stoner moves leaving the res tap off when I went away, etc etc etc I’ve had good harvests of better weed than I was buying locally on the black market.
@blasting knows, they punish you but they are forgiving at the same time. If I iron out the ph issues I was having using ehemm, Ph PERFECT nutrients, I will have my autopots on the path to eliminating them from my grow issues.
I’m going to use Mega Crop on my experimental po’ man’s autopot.
Kewl @blackthumbbetty there is another grower going to use MC in the group landrace grow. I’ve got to get busy cleaning and organizing. Been toking so much of my harvest, I look at the tent and say blah just smoke a bowl. I think there is still a gallon of liquid in my res that I just shut off and started hanging sticks. I work best under pressure so probably between the holidays I’ll get around to it.
