My seedlings continue to yellow and I can’t figure out what’s going on. I used to grow under T5 and HID and never had issues this early on. Recently switched to LED and a new tent and I can’t get past seedling or early veg without discoloration. This is my third try and it’s going down the same road. Assistance would be most greatly appreciated.
IONFRAME EVO3 - 37" away at 50%
2x4 tent in a small bathroom - exhaust to attic via Cloudline 4"
Spring water Ph’d down, feeding every other day or as needed
Temps in the 70’s, humidity 55-70%
Plant is about 2 weeks old
Thank you. Plants start yellowing at week 1. Should they be transplanted to DWC that young? Also confirming they shouldn’t need nutrients at this point.
Yes if you are running DWC they should have been transplanted onve they had enough roots to put them into the net pots and seedlings typically dont meed nutrients for the 1st few days of life but once those 1st set of full leafs begin to fourm they need nutrients id definitely suggest getting them into net pots and into the system what nutrients are you using?
Well this is embarrassing. I just don’t remember having to transplant this early… Assumed the issue was related to the LED. Once in the RDWC system, I will be using GH Flora 3-part, Calmag, and RO water. Thanks Lies!
I cant really speak on the topic a whole lot with lighting as ive only ever used LED lights but from speaking with older growers that used HPS in the past and switched to LED ive heard alot report that LED drive the plants harder than HPS creating a higher demand from the plant for nutrient uptake and its nothing to be embarrassed abput just learning curves
Cotyledons are still green and plump: plant does not need nutrients until they brown and dry up. New growth is typically lime green in color but will darken over time.
Doesn’t appear to be anything truly negative in my opinion. However I would transition them into a bigger pot/bag sooner than later. Also new growth is going to be brighter in green as it is developing as an immature part of the plant. However you can try to push the plant but you should be cautious in the amount of nitrogen you add. Being that I grow living organic (nothing from a jug) I’d recommend powdered fish emulsion as a nitrogen supplement. But you gotta go wicked easy or you run the risk of nitro burn . (Which you don’t want!!!)
However if you find yourself in a situation where the plants are truly yellowing and in a bad way! A great immediate remedy for nitrogen is DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) cut at about 10:1 seems to be safe and effective. Def is deionized water and urea in liquid form. Urea is nitrogen and as it is in liquid form it is immediately available to your plant no real wait time. If there is a truck stop near you it’s cheaper at the pump at about 4 dollars a gallon but you can also purchase two and a half gallon jugs at Walmart and tractor supply. If you do go this route remember to cut it and once you either pump into a jug or open a prefilled jug you want to use it up or discard within about 90 days initially cracking the bottle so to say. Discard is simple it is non toxic as it’s simply pure H2O and nitrogen so a nice patch of lawn will be more than happy to soak up what it can. Hopefully this helps.
