I’ve been drying two plants, separated into individual branches, at an average temp of 65 degrees F and average RH of 59% (65 F is the lowest temp I can achieve). I have two fans running in the tent, but not pointing directly at the branches.
It’s been 16 days for one plant and 15 for the other, and while the outsides of the buds feel very dry, the stems (even the thinnest ones) still bend, and don’t snap.
I could lower the RH to about 50% or 55 % (the dehumidifier only adjusts in 5% increments) , or else just keep waiting with the current conditions.
I could use a wood moisture meter, but I’ve read that they are not very accurate for cannabis plants, as they are designed for wood.
Your conditions are good and you should be close to trimming. If you hung the plant with fan leaves/untrimmed, it takes a bit longer. I do use a wood moisture meter set to tree or hard wood, and I think there are many others on these forums that do. It takes a bit of practice placing the probes correctly. I look for about 14 percent on moisture meter and start the sweat/trim. I am a new grower and did not feel comfortable just relying on snap method.
I second a moisture meter until you get more experience. They don’t work that great with fluffy buds though. I never go more that two weeks before jarring, but my conditions are generally a little warmer than yours.
Yes, I have one fan blowing in at bottom, an oscillating fan inside, and an exhaust in-line fan at the top blowing out a window. Most of them time the tent door is open - so there is good airflow.
I tried lowering the average RH to 55, and I’ll see how that does.
Have you utilized the paper bag sweating routine?
That will help the inside dry slow and keep outside less brittle.
Dry from inside of plant?
(Cut and hang) Smaller stalks of buds is available also
As mentioned above, meter and fan leaf trim, works too.
