So, I’ve done this with dry trim and buds, but never with fresh stuff. Do I need to grind it up? If so, what would be the best way? I imagine fresh plant matter is much harder to work with. Any other tips?

If you freeve your flowers before doing it it will also help release tricomes
I’ve done that. Been in the freezer for two weeks.
I put fresh plants in freezer for 48hrs covered with a kitchen towel. Then into a cooler with dry ice and shake around for 10 min. I prefer blonde hash, so I separate the plant matter from trichomes with ice and water. Give a shake, then it sits in fridge for an hour or two. Remove ice and plant matter, and then syphon off the top crap; leaving the white trichomes at bottom to be run through a coffee filter.

I’ll be using a bubble bag. 160 micron and running butane over what’s left as a gift for a friend. I’ve done this method with dry trim, but I trimmed wet for the first time and wasn’t certain on how to process it.
Tru. I don’t have bubble bags so that how I get there.

For future reference, I found that simply squishing the frozen bags of trim with my hands did a really great job of breaking it up! I got a load of blonde hash here! The fresh trim definitely comes out MUCH cleaner than what I got from dry trim by using the same process.

Yeah hands work the best once the dry ice does its thing making it all crunchy. I never cut up with scissors or anything. Even for whole buds, as long as fresh and frozen 48hr first.

I watch a youtube of a guy and his fresh trimmings. He Freezes all the fresh trimmings. Then he puts them all in into a bubble bag the 160 and a bunch of dry ice chips. I think the science behind it is the dry ice will freeze the combs and they break off regardless if its fresh or dried herbs. I think the dried herb method would give you a lot more plant matter. If your using fresh sugar leaf the combs get knocked off before the actual plant matter starts to freeze and break away. Make sure you do it in batches it will be like snow at first nothing but combs and then the more you shake the color will change as you start to freeze the plant matter and that starts to break off.
