Droopiness issue in dwc

Hey everyone. This is my first time growing, and I’m using DWC. Everything was going well, but a few days ago, my plant started looking droopy. I changed the reservoir and balanced the pH, and she started looking better yesterday. However, today she’s droopy again. The pH is between 5.8 and 6.0, and the PPM is around 840. She’s 13 days old. It seems like she might be experiencing oxygen deprivation, so I just lowered the water level to see if it helps. I can see plenty of bubbles there. The bucket is 20L, and the net pot is 12cm. Right now, the bucket is only halfway full, lol. The roots still look healthy though. Any ideas what could be causing the droopiness?

Set your net cup 1-2” above the nutrient solution. PH and PPMs look good, do you know the temps of the nutrient mix in the bucket? 65-70 degrees is ideal, higher temps can lead to pythium down the road. Are you using a root inoculant in the mix like Hydroguard or Southern Ag :love_you_gesture:

-Method: Soil w/salt, Organic soil, Hydroponics, Aquaponics, KNF
-Vessels: Type and capacity of container (fabric, plastic, etc)
-PH and TDS of Water, Solution, runoff (if Applicable)
-PPM/TDS or EC of nutrient solution if applicable

If growing Hydro some additional questions:

-DWC? RDWC? Autopots? Ebb and Flow? Other?
-Distance of liquid below net pot (DWC)
-Temperature of reservoir
-TDS of nutrient solution
-Amount of air to solution

Hi! Thanks for the reply! The temp of mix is around 72. Just tossed in a frozen water bottle to help cool it down a bit. Couldn’t find Hydroguard or Southern Ag anywhere around here (Eastern Europe), so I opted for some Voodoo Juice instead…

Hi!

  • I’m growing a Six Shooter by Fast Buds, it’s an auto strain.
  • It’s been 13 days since germination.
  • Using DWC method in a 20L reservoir.
  • Maintaining pH levels around 5.8-6, with a PPM of 840.
  • I check pH using a pH meter and occasionally confirm with pH drops. For TDS, I rely on a TDS meter. EC isn’t relevant at this stage.
  • The tent size is 2.3’’ x 2.3" x 5.2’'.
  • Lighting with a Mars Hydro TS 600 100w LED, positioned 50cm above the canopy.
  • Running a light schedule of 18/6.
  • Daytime temperatures are between 72-73°F, dropping to around 70-71°F at night.
  • Humidity levels range from 48-50% during the day, and 55-60% at night.
  • Using a 6’’ exhaust fan equipped with a smart controller and CO2 filter.
  • Employing a simple DWC setup, with reservoir temperature maintained at around 72°F. TDS reading sits at 840ppm. The liquid is approximately 2 inches below the net pot, and I’m using two air pumps, each with a capacity of 1.8L/min.

It seems to have started looking better, at least a bit. :upside_down_face:

Forgot to mention that when this droopiness started, the PPM in the reservoir was around 400. I gave her very little nutrients, afraid of overfeeding. I feed with TA tripart nutrients. Could the problem be due to the low PPM?

I would recommend getting the temps up around 78-85 and the RH 65-70% for this stage of growth. All in you’re doing well Grow Bro :love_you_gesture:

Thanks a ton for the kind words, bro. :raised_hands:

Anytime Growmie, the first few weeks above ground are the most difficult IMO :love_you_gesture:

Not bad overall; just a couple of points.

Based on the picture your aeration is producing large bubbles. You may want to try a different airstone, particularly a blue air stone. It produces a finer more atomized bubble stream that paints the bottom of the net pot.

Your light is fine for the first four weeks but is inadequate to properly flower out one plant. You need something like 200 watts of quality LED’s.

Water temp is critical as it will cause root rot if allowed to get over 70F. Using a product like ‘Hydroguard’ can help.

Not knowing your nutrient mix I’m going to suggest the addition of silica and cal mag to your rez. Silica is necessary to promote good trichome development and helps make for a hardier plant.

‘Drooping’ is also seen before lights out and after lights on as the plant is preparing for night hours or day hours, depending.

Hi @Myfriendis410, thanks for the reply. I’m restricted on the number of posts I can make per day lol. Not sure if I could invest in a more powerful light at this flowering stage just yet. If not, I’ll try some LST to maximize the light’s effectiveness. If I manage to harvest about 30-40g, I’ll already be happy.
Yeah, I have one small air stone in a circular shape. That’s the one producing those big bubbles. And I also have another one, 108mm in size, which creates nice atomized bubbles that seem more suitable for DWC. I think I should install another one like that instead of the small one.
