I agree with “where the magic happens” just not so much as how to best get there. When I want to plant 10 seeds, I’d like them all to germinate as close to the same time as possible. When you soak seeds, some float and do not get hydrated while the sinkers do…and thusly engineering at least a several day spread in germination. Exactly what I don’t want. I germinate all my seeds in a plastic covered soap dish with thick layers of paper towels above and below the seeds. The bottom of the dish is ribbed so I can have a little extra water within that will wick through the towels. The seeds are ALL uniformly hydrated and if viable, pop pretty much together. I used to use rapid rooters or jiffy pots, but now when I germinate seeds I wait for about a 3mm tap root and then if photoperiods, into a starter pot…if autoflowers, they go directly into their only and final container. I like these threads since everyone has their own rendition of what works best for them.
On average my ladies come up within a day of each other your right it is all a matter of preference I prefer to let them crack and sprout in medium. What’s most important is how they are cared for in medium during the delicate first week or so how medium is selected and prepared. Most fail to get seedlings past the first week by making same common mistakes too wet too dry too cold or too rich medium.
Update on my Super Skunk before I get into new beans
first feed 1ml liquid karma 500ml water only took 1 cup to feed both so have second dose for later this week
a few shots of new beans in their shot glasses full of Promix
1/2 popped and broke surface of soil the other will get a few more days meantime now placed under light in Veg space.
Soaking 1 Bubblegum bean to go into rockwool tomorrow hedging bets and starting a plant in final medium on list

Well my rock wool seed finally graced me with it’s presence this morning did need a little assistance getting shell off which oddly came off in 2 layers? which was likely cause of my promix fail which had same appearance and sprouted with no cotyledons (water leafs) have 2 more seeds in paper towel soak germing so as to redo soil medium start
My rockwool Bubblegum will be moving my germmed seeds to promix today since quite certain my failure was not removing entire seed husk after it sprouted
