They only save what you don’t use. It will cost just as much as every other 260 watt light to run. But I do think you’ll get a lot more light out of it.
I c!!! Thanks. I might get one… Wanna look into those cob lights a little more…, I think. the ones i was looking at were made in China… At least HLG is a U.S. company, so I do like that!!! lol And people do seem to like their lights!!!..
Samsung produces the 288 v2 for them, so I’m sure it’s China or somewhere similar.
The cobs are nice too. Are you capable of building yourself? You can do both lol.
HLG says they will build and test that one for $25, so I would just have them do it, or someone like u, but u prob. do more expensive stuff!!! lol Cloudy here again today, so I gotta make a move asap it seems… Was supposed to be sunny, I thought too!!! Dang it!!! Wish they were not auto’s!!! shimpy little things!!! lol:sob:
Unusually when I build lights for people it’s for free haha. But I’ve had people throw me a few bucks and random stuff here and there. I don’t necessarily do for money though. More for friends or just to do something nice for someone I feel deserves it. I have too much right now to be taking any extra though, and the site rules don’t allow us to exchange info.
Paying them for assembly isn’t too bad. I’d be willing to bet I could do 4 kits an hour though if that tells you anything. So up to you.
That fast eh??? lol Figured it would take me an hour or two at least!!! lol It just might too!!! lol So, i would jus have them do it… lol
Those cob lights run much hotter than the hlg led’s??? The ones i saw had little fans in them…, i think… Actually i can use more heat around here in winter anyway though!!! lol
No necessarily. The thermal load is more condensed into a tighter area, so they do require a better thermal path. There are plenty of passively cooled options though.
Something I didn’t know, if they put it together you have a 3yr warranty. If they don’t it’s 1yr.
But it was easy and I don’t think I’ll need either.
Oh, @Whodat66 I did not remember that u have a HLG… Did u get a 260? U like it? Works good for u? What size tent do u have again…?
I was maybe thinking of getting a I power tent, and all the other I power gear for it, except for the light… Anyone have any gear from that company…? And any comments on them? I suppose they prob. are a chinese company, but… I figure their gear had better fit and work well together and in their own tent…!!! Only problem is I was kinda thinking of a 3’ x 3’ tent, and i have only seen a 2’ x 4’ I power tent…, no 3’ x 3’ s… Gonna go try to get some exercise before the first football game of the year… lol Reg. season Pro game that is… lol Reply later… Thanks!!!
For my small closet (35" x 30") the wide version fit well. I would get the XL one if you have room and plan on growing 2 plants, since the boards are spaced further apart. Easier to have each centered on a plant.
I love it so far, and so do my plants, but I can’t run it at full strength with my current ventilation set up. The lights are great though.
This is why I mentioned ventilation in a closet above ![]()
Oh, The 260’s have a dimmer on them or something like that??? So u can turn it down from full strength???
Yes. It’s not a dial like a volume knob, but there is a rubber cap on the driver you remove, and a phillips head screw adjuster
I’m not sure what hlg does on boards, but meanwell will warranty hlg drivers for 7 years I’m pretty sure.
This is just info I got in that e-mail from Kurt at HLG, when he explained the delay in builds.
He’s at hlg or growerslights? I would be interested to see how any issues are handled really. The first generation boards are rolling up on 2 years old, and I haven’t seen any chatter on problems. Other than the nylon washer situation with 324 boards anyway.
My buddy still has first light I built in action. It’s rolling up on being 4 years old cree cxa3070. Even survived a pc fan failure.
My bad, your right. He was from Growers Lights. Must be that they have the 3yr assembly-defect warranty or something
With a diy build with a failure you just update to fix it. win ,win
I have never had anything run its life out on me. They were saying my SSD drive “oh that will only last 2 or 3 years tops” running 2 Kingston SDD’s for 8 maybe 9 years now.
Buying commercial lights now but still plan on building a 6 panel HLG light next year for my house
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge , The lights your helping theses people build are BadA. ![]()
Ya, that’s a really good point. If you’ve built a light, it’s really nothing to swap a strip, cob, or driver.
I was actually considering how easy it would be to have separate veg and bloom boards - eventually. I think that since I’m planning on a longer veg next grow it might be an investment. What would be the best boards for the 2, instead of a single gen purpose spectrum?
Real easy. Small posse in lab group going to be trying some low cost boards out before long too.
