Im still novice but my last grow went well I grow in jacks/ coco but my nuggs came out very airy, the same thing happened with the previous grow, different genetics were used. Chat gpt says to try up to 60 DLl( I go 24/7 btw.) What do you humans think about this advice? Is this something I cant get away from until I stop growing autos?? I really dont want to do night cycles. Also I bought plenty of Quality auto genetics, however I also notice that the taste is horrible, compared to $65 ounces I pick up. a the shop. Kind of frustrated because I can even show you guys im growing strong healthy trees until harvest.
Chatgtp says 60 at what stage? Any more specific?
I don’t believe you need maximum allowable DLI for the whole flowering cycle to have dense buds
GpT says I should push for 55 to 60Dli for weeks 3 until 7 of flower.
Im posting a pic just as proof that im growing healthy plants.
Its also telling me to add a PK boost for weeks 3 to 7, not sure if that’s necessary with Jacks..
It is not. Jacks has sufficient PK. Adding bloom boosters can cause pH and NPK ratio problems.
Might wanna look into training to keep an even canopy that will also help keep tighter density in the nugs. All sites getting even light.
Auto flower bud density will be hit or miss. I’ve had about 30% of the autos have dense buds with the majority on the airy side. I never exceed a DLI of 50-52 on photo periods or auto flowering strains
Grow photos! And you’ll get way better flowers! Autos are an inferior to photos! I started with autos! I will NEVER GO BACK!

Can you open? Very informative. Autos need much different care than photos, it seems. These guys are convinced a DLI of 30 is the sweetspot, so if you run lights 24/7, the PPFD should be 350.
It looks like a good article but the ILGM Grow Guide “Best Light Schedule for Autoflowers” contradicts that stating, " Flowering plants produce best with a 40-50 DLI and roughly 25% lower for the vegetative stage. Whether growing autoflowers or photoperiods, the DLI numbers remain constant.
@dbrn32 I know some of the Grow Guides possibly need updating but isn’t that information still relevant? I look at the grow guides all the time and left a suggestion that the ones clearly out of date (LED grow light one) should be updated as they’re well done. At least I find them valuable along with experienced member’s comments.
They’re definitely dated. Personally, I don’t feel there is much a difference in requirements between photoperiod and Autoflowering plants. The only practical uses for Autoflower plants is outdoor growing on a short season or not having a light tight indoor grow space.
Thanks for the response! I’m currently on my first Auto grow and I’m using it as a short season outdoor grow to beat the damp and humid conditions my photos face during harvest time.
