Sativas I assume… What strain? How long are you vegging before you flip? I’m getting back into indoor setups after a 20 year hiatus and I’m still knocking the rust off. Are you topping or fimming?

@wagner

I grow photo’s and my typical strains are Granddaddy Bruce, OG Kush, White Widow and Gelato. I flip by 6 weeks or 18 inches which ever comes first and I don’t top or FIM but I do bend and train branches to form what I like to call the bouquet top or Lollipop top.

Thank you sir.

I just did some clean up on my girls under the scrog net. I’m at day 80 of veg and plan on flipping after they recover.

How long do plants usually take to recover after defol? I scalped them pretty good under the canopy taking away all the small growth and fan leaves receiving no light.

Defoliation is IMO a form of Low Stress Training. I will probably be murdered in the comments for saying this. As long as you don’t do anything crazy. Recovery time will be a couple days max. You’ve got to have good airflow throughout the canopy to keep Pests and mold at bay. Defoliation can be done up until the last couple of weeks of flower. At that point, the plant is focused on supersizing buds and not worried about fan leaf production. The plant will be using all of its energy on fatting up those colas!
