Damping off seedling 👀

For those who are curious what damping off looks like, a.k.a. seed stem rot due to overwatering, here’s a good image of a tray of seedlings. My mistake was I used the new drip tray that had no perforations for drainage. The tray of seedlings has been sitting out in the Pacific Northwest rain for the last week and I haven’t checked on it too closely since they had all ready germinated. Unfortunately, I noticed yesterday that the tray was completely flooded with water. Many of the seedlings have rotted out stems and fallen over. This is not seedling stretching.

Wet soil is the number one enemy when it comes to young seedlings. Basically, wanted to share my mistake, and let others who have not seen this in person have a good view of what it looks like.

Good post. We see this among newer growers far too often.

New growers and experienced growers alike, I think we all can say we’ve struggled through this more than once.

I lost 1 of 8 this grow, took a toll on the rest as well but i think theyll make it to harvest, but it wont be a great harvest lol:rofl::sob:. The last 3 autos i pulled came in at 6.25 oz, 7.5 oz and 10.25 oz, was feeling over confident in my set up and was only checking it weekly. Tent was flooded and found my timer was crap and malfunctioning often, so back to daily checks and hand watering.
