You are on point @Graysin . My son works at a farm that supplies a dispensary (from seed to sale). The same company owns both. That is how he explained it to me.
Great questionsâŚI did not notice that, even when I posted it.
Besides not trusting the dispensaryâs weed after my last experience about a year ago, a few months ago when I checked online to see if they had Durban Poison that I could try, they had a 1-gram pre-roll for $24. I think they had 1/8ths of flower, but of course at a much higher price. Hard pass on both.

Same here in Hawaii. They wayyy exaggerate the thca⌠And ya man. The 30 i just got from the dispensary hits like a 20 maybe 22 thca. Weak and expensive.
âWhen i was a kidâ This is my sons queue to exit the room when i say that, lmaooo.
Oh ua, when i was a teen weed was probably 10 to 14 at best. Columbian usually. Then the Mexican started. More seeds and less potent.
Finally late 70s We finally scored some Afganistan sinsimellia. Wow, that was a huge improvement. Started cloning them under a 1000 watt HPS bulb.
Oh yes, i remember it well!
Now look at us.
These are my 45 to 50 day old plants. Boom Pow Bang
I would have been shot, if I spilled weed back then like I do now.
No worries, I vaccum weekly.
Music now is headphones, softly.
No Vynl since 77
âThose were the days, my friendâ
Looking sweet my friend. Update us when harvest hits.
almost double mine @ 12c/kwh. No good reason for that why youd have to pay double how the hell ya gonna heat a house with heat pumps and minisplits at that price, I feel for ya brother!
I remember going down the highway with a Frisbee on my lap and rolling a joint while still driving âŚ((donât try this at home kids.)
Standing on the roof of the 59 Plymoth, didnât know it was car surfing, just stupid kids.
I live in Michigan and recently got an advertisement in mail for a new dispensary opening in town. Some coupons were included and one of them was $49 for an OUNCE of prepackaged pot. I was intrigued. I went in, they have several types to try and I eventually picked one with claim of THC in high 20âs. Found out that the normal price for these small nugs is only $59 an ounce. How can they afford to do that?
After my visit I started wondering if I should give up growing. I easily spend $100 a month on electricity for growing and consume about 1 ounce a month. But I love the hobby so Iâm going to continue for the time being.
These companies are vertically interconnected. They will do this to drive their competitors out of business. Growing your own weed is like garden vegetables compared to store bought. No comparison iho. You get to pick your strain and the mental gratification this plant does for you.

The re-assurance that no harmful chemicals were added is important.
1970âs paraquat was not fun.
paraquat
Havenât heard that term in agesâŚso true thoughâŚNo you may end up with FentynlâŚUGGH!
even worse,now
Remember when Home grown used to be some garbage your friend tried to grow. You only smoked it because weed became scarce at certain times of the year.
Canât wait to get some Toledo Window Box.
In the 1970âs we would say donât smoke the pot with paraquat ! Pot was also $20 a oz.
@Pocahontas1, @DEEPDIVERDAVE
In 1974, my employer screwed up on my paycheck one week, and had to catch up the next week. This double check with a lot of OT gave my a check of about $220.00.
I went out and bought a pound of weed for $170.00. I still remember the trill of cutting up that pound of weed. Trying to get an even amount of seeds, buds and stems in each bag. After getting 17.5 ounces out of the pound, and selling it at $20.00 per ounce. I learned that there were definitely advantages to being on the supply side of things, and repeated this process a few times. Unfortunately, I did not have the financial discipline to maintain reinvestment capital and keep this going.
1979 bags 30-40
