thanx for lookin out
@Newt I have them in coco & perlite!
@Newt @HappyHydroGrower Thanks, I’ll do that!
Less is better! I saw a couple of combos. @Myfriendis410
If they are autos, then I’d recommend going into the forever homes once the leaf tips pass the edges of the cup. That’s a good indication that the roots are well established.
If they are photo periods, they can be on any schedule you want.
I got my apera ph kit for under 100$ and a good tds meter is no more then 35.
Without meters and ph up/down your grow will struggle. Probably the second most important thing behind lighting
I grabbed my apera meter on Amazon for like $150. It does ppm/tds, EC, salinity, and ph. I had some cheap ones and they were causing me issues as they didn’t take proper readings. Feel free to tag me if you ever need any thing. If I can’t answer I will find someone who can.
@Nicky @ReelOfishalTrees I have a cheap one that said my tap water has a ph of 2 Lol, it’s going back & im getting a different one.
@Newt I planted them in small solo cups like maybe 6oz and was thinking I could see roots in those. The leaves will touch much sooner so should I still transplant at that time? I put them in cups at 0600 & one already has some green poking her head up!
Since they are in clear cups, you’ll be able to pull that cup from the opaque one and see the roots. Just wait till you see good root development, then transplant them.
It’s a good rule of thumb, once the leaves extend to the outer edges of the cup, it’s time to up-plant. Some let it go longer and some shorter, but typically the outside edges. You’re probably a week or two away from that point. Just don’t water too much and watch them grow. ![]()

I live in the deep south as well, so I know all about the humidity. Getting major issues now because of the constant ups and downs on outside temps. As far as tap water, it’s all I use. I just fill up a clean 5 gallon bucket, got a cheap aquarium pump at wallyworld for like $10, some aquarium tubing and an airstone. Put it all together, drop the airstone in the water and let it sit until next watering (24-48 hours). Never had any issues and I water daily.
Aperah ph20 is about 50 on Amazon and a vivosun ppm meter is 10 to 20 so not really. U can get the aperaph60 I believe it is and it does both pH and ppm but is like 100 to 120ish
I strong suggest getting the apera ph20 KIT so you can calibrate it for years to come.
Anything less isn’t accurate.
@GreenSnek nutes at 1st water? You water at transplant? And is there a chart for the 1/2 & full strength info w Jacks or just keep it full strength according to the mixing directions on pkg of all ingredients per gallon of water?
Yea with coco bricks that’s usually your rehydration step, always water on transplant it helps the roots adjust, always go full strength jacks 321 ( the actual nute density of a jacks 321 watering is low compared to other brands but since you’re constantly introducing new nute water it gets balanced out)
@GreenSnek what about re-hydrating the brick of coco w nutes or no? Probably take too much.
Personally i buffer to rehydrate but hellraiser just soaks his in jacks 321 , if you don’t have pure cal mag then i recommend the jacks 321 soak
I have the canna coco that’s supposed to not need buffering
No buffer there. Add nutes to expand and go to town.
