Closed System with minisplit

Can you have a completly closed system with no vent open or will this cause problems?

To specifiy, my current system is I have a tent with no openings, and the only fresh air coming in is from a mini split inside the tent. Humidifer and Co2 inside the tent as well. Can cycling the same air cause any issues? Do I need to open an intake for ambient fresh air to come in?

Ya you definitely want some fresh air coming in or the air will go stale and problems will arise

Can I keep the window open in the room and one or a few holes in the tent open or do I need an intake fan to push fresh air inside the tent?

I always thought you wanted a totally sealed environment when using Co2. Here’s an article, more like a how to, on setting up a sealed grow area for Co2. I’m definitely no expert on the issue but this article covers all the bases.

Very interesting read, I have a lot of the same parts as him. Not to sure if I should be venting in fresh air or even leaving the window open to allow some in. I like the idea of a closed system since it seems easier to control but I am very new to growing so was not to sure if fresh air is required.

It’s a bold move for a new grower to start using Co2. That’s not to say it can’t be done though. I’m sure more growers will be on in the morning and you’ll get a clear answer on your question. Good luck getting everything dialed in.

What kind of light do you have that requires the use of co2

So I think the “fresh air” is 1st to get new CO2 for the plants to turn into O2. 2nd to keep humidity level as the plants transpire during that process. 3rd allow heat from lights to escape. 4th cause air movement to strengthen stems.
If so as long as 2&3 don’t get out of hand during the day you should be fine. Just only go in with your plants when the tent is wide open so you don’t suffocate. Watching with baited breath! A
