Hello All. I’ve read a lot of posts in which people had to overcome low temps, but I have a high temp issue and am looking for advice before I sink money in more equipment. I can add an in-line cooler for the root watering system, but if I cannot lower the ambient air temperature, am I doomed to failure before I start? The daytime air temperature is going to be high 90s low 100s in a few weeks time. I have no way to cool off the grow room. Typical humidity is in the 10-15% region except during monsoon later this summer. If it comes given global warming. I can provide some humidification but given the nature of the room available it is not well designed to retain moisture. This is based on a 4x4 tent with a 4 bucket ebb and flow system. Your time is much appreciated. Don’t want to spend the ducats if I can’t get the returns. Thank you.
Can you at least get a fan in there? With temps that high you will end up with airy buds, not dense buds.

Air conditioner is best but expansive option. Because if your ambient temperature is very high a fan in not enough for make low the temperature.
And I think you must buy also an air extractor with cooltube reflector .Because with light on temperature in your growrooom will be very high.
But you will pay much money this set-up
Ask some expert is better.
This is my opinion.![]()

So a little more info and maybe a few pictures of your set would held
I’m in the commercial Hvac trade for the last 25 years and will try to help you out
Like I said pictures would help me help you
What type of lights are you using and how strong
Do you have exhaust and make up air ?
Do you have a humidifier
You said you using a tent with 4 plants
And last but not least what type of budget you working with since this will determine how effective your going to be given the temps you have provided
@Teddy78 is on point with you’ll probably need Ac of some sort
I have one available for my grow room and mines in my basement that is 72 - 78 degrees f
Thank you all for your replies @ktreez420, @Teddy78, @Countryboyjvd1971. equipment is in the shopping cart. don’t want to hit checkout until I’m relatively sure I can pull this off. did 3 rounds with a grow box in the house, but that was while daughter was away at school. Site is a 12x24 building, no insulation, 2 small skylights and a turbine fan. 15 amp service. lighting was to be CAlifornia Lightworks solarstorm 440w led. have a humidifier. Planned for exhaust fan ducted to the turbine vent. Had not planned on an intake fan, but obviously can. Was looking at the portable swamp coolers available now but don’t know if they will drop temps enough. Site is on a half acre, so have some privacy but if the neighbor was jawing at me over the fence they would definitely be able to hear anything running, especially if it was constantly. and last but not least, I’ll probably have less than a grand (maybe 750) left to play with as it stands right now. Thanks again for taking the time to get back at me.
Hey @NMBob with those temps I would advise getting some insulation in the building you’ll save on the cooling and a swamp cooler will help during cooler temps but with the temps you mentioned and size of that space you’ll have 288 square feet you need around 10000 btu unit to cool the space proper when temps are 90plus
Wouldnt want you to invest all the time and $ just to cook your plants
You could go with 4 inch foam insulation board and build a smaller room in shed or out building then you can go with smaller Ac unit ?
Hadn’t thought about subdividing the building. you hit the nail on the head, didn’t want to drop a lot on equipment just to watch the plants cook.
Also you could go with a portable Ac unit
Might be a little less obvious that your cooling a shed ? If that makes a difference where you are they are a bit pricey and if you choose to go that way get the dual hose model for condensor air it will be more efficient and most of them have a dehumidifier mode
Although you did mention low humidity being your issue lol
Anyway brother tag me should you need any other assistance

Thanks CB. Much appreciated. ![]()
walmart has small ac units that sit on the floor, you take outside to drain.300.oo bucks if you are insulated good
help me out too @Countryboyjvd1971 … Ive got two double ended 1000w lights. 5 feet away from the canopy im filling in at the moment. I have a 12K portable ac with it vented thru the ceiling and the a/c elevated on a sturdy book shelf about 5 feet off the ground. Its a 12’x10’x9’ foot room. i have a 8" carbon fan and filter on the opposite side of the room, only scrubbing. I had the fan blowing in to the attic but determined it was way too much exhaust even turned completely down with a motor controller. I have one wall mounted fan oscillating and two smaller fans oscillating over that too. My problem is I am only in 600w mode on the ballast and when i go up to 750 my temps go way up to like 84. The current temp during the day here is 100++ outside and about 75 inside. I know some people like running warmer temps and say not to be worried by them but i dont like anything over 78 personally. I would also like to get in to 1000w mode during a later time but i cant control the temp enough to do that. HELP PLEASE.
@Lash I’ll need to do some numbers and will need a few minutes so if you don’t hear back right away I’ll get with you
First off are you useing cool hoods or just reflector type hood ? You mentioned ballasts so I know your pumping out heat
You should definitely get cooled hoods if you don’t have them
78!is optimal temp they grow best at that temp but a few degrees above won’t hurt
Looking at the room size your using and the lights your Ac is probably a little small
And you need to exhaustvthat heat
Your room is 1000 cubic feet so your exhaust should be at least able to remove that much air every couple minutes so I’d use something in the 4-500 cfm range if it where mine
You should also bring fresh air into the room
I don’t see a intake fan listed or passive vents mentioned
Your probably pulling all the cool air right out of the room faster than it can cool it
I have fresh air coming from the ac vent of the house which is set at 75. No return in the room tho, had a transfer in there but i had to cover it cause it made my whole house stinky. I am using the gavita style reflector with attached ballast. I dont understand what your getting at by saying im pulling the cool air right out of the room??? you said
but im only exhausting like 250 cfm with that portable ac?? im confused??
Ok those portable units it only has one vent tube ?
I’ll to explain it better I’m a bit tiered tho I’ve been up since 230am working lol
You should get something like this I’m talking about the hood not sure if you can replace your hood or not but a cool hood is bestvwith those style light connect in line canto hood and good bye heat
The Ac is pulling air out I always recommend get two hose type portable acs myself cause they use outside are to cool condensor coil in Ac unit (hot coil ) not room air
i hear ya. no its a single hose ac. and my solution is returning the lights. i have the yield lab de 1000w commerical lights and i just ordered the air cooled hoods that are also double ended. i am going to exhaust them out of the room thru the ceiling with a carbon fan on the other end. Thanks for the help. I think that this should solve any problems that i am having. Yield lab is also a little modest on the amount of btus required to cool these lights. they said 4k per light. well im at 6k per light and i cant run it in full power mode…
