Ive seen a lot of people mention using distilled water to water their plants. Ive been buying the 4L jugs of distilled water. Im curious what others are doing. Do you buy similar jugs or are people buying bigger?
I bought a hydrologic small boy for about $100 then spent another $90 for the RO conversion kit, I now have unlimited RO water with PPMs of 10-20

We actually have RO water on tap with a filter system. Whole lot cheaper, lease the system for 10$ even a month an the company comes to replace filters an test it every 6 months

Thats not a terrible idea. Maybe I’ll look into an RO system. But i rent the house im in so i dont want to get too crazy. Maybe something i can remove and take with me if i move.
The small boy connects to any outside faucet like you would a hose, you can put it on and off anytime. I live in an apartment though, so I have an adapter that allows me to connect it to the shower. I just take the shower head off, and connect my RO system, when I’m not using I disconnect and store it in a dark cabinet

I use the RO buddie. Distilled water seemed to leach nutes from my plants.
Edit: yup, that, lol. 
I just got a RO system from Express Water with de-ionization for $180. And I can easily take it to my next place, it’s easy to install. My PPM is 1.

@Myfriendis410 how much are replacement filters and how often. Do you have to replace them?
The 3 cartridge replacement system is $45. I’ve been using mine since January. My tap water is usually 300 plus ppm. Using RO Buddy brings it down to under 5 ppm. It has been going up a little recently to 7 or 8 ppm. I’m near the end of my current grow so I’ll probably replace before starting the next.

You can start off with the 50gpd if you want. And when you replace the filters. Just get the ones for the 100 gpd and the 800cc check valve I think it is. It is about 5 bucks. Then you get a 100 gph for half price

i guess the big question is why do we want RO or distilled? If our municiple water has chloramine in it? If the ppm is over 200? If you want greater nutrient control than a high starting value? If you are NOT growing in a soil? If you are purely hydroponic?
These are just ideas? I personally have reasonably decent municipal water at around 90 ppm and chlorinated. In my indoor grow I have 3 stage fultration with carbon. In my outdoor grow, I fill 6 x 55 gallon food safe barrels with chlorinated water from the lake. That water sits for 2 days before use. This seems very doable for me without the expense of advanced treatment.

@Not2SureYet and I use the same muni water supply and no to chloramines but a big YES to salts: delivered to my tap at 550 ppm! So R/O is definitely a must. Looking forward to the 50 ppm water I’ll be getting out of the new tap lol.
