Bungles Fan First Grow Journal

Day 46/63 (week 7)

She is getting closer but still a couple of weeks away. Flushed today so no more nutes. Leaves are beginning to turn yellow.

Check out today’s pics below.

Day 53/63 since the flip

She is just about ready to chop. All of the trichomes are cloudy and only a very few are amber. We are going to give it another few days to mature. Really getting excited for my first harvest.

Day 57/63 since the flip

Last water, added some back strap molasses. She is just about ready. I am going to go dark on Thanksgiving morning and plan to cut this Sunday prior to sunrise.

Day 63/63 since the flip

Lots of things going on here this morning. I will need some help so if you are an experienced grower, please share your advice.

Here are the trichome pics.

This is my first grow but to me this looks pretty close to being ready to chop.

The biggest problem that I have is that when I opened the tent this morning, there are lots of bugs attacking my girl.

The options as I see it:

  1. Chop it now
  2. Treat the bugs and give it another week
  3. Something else

I agree with you, your plants appear to be in the harvest window. I would try to figure out where the insects came from so that you can take pre-emptive action for your next grow.

I think @Myfriendis410 or @Covertgrower may want to weigh in on the insect issue and what to do about it.

Thanks Merlin , have a great day my friend.

Here is a link to my latest update if you are interested…

I agree with @merlin44 for the harvest. But for the bugs, this far in flowers, there’s not much to do for now since it’s not recommended to spray anything on the flowers, imo.
Make sure you wash your harvest thoroughly and you should be good.
Maybe @Oldguy, @Hoppiefrog or @Budbrother have a different opinion…

Depends on how bad the infestation preditors can work in late flower but only work if you have enough preditors to consume the pests faster than they can breed, if it’s not bad that’s what I would do 150$ does my room very well in veg. Probably 500 in flower. But a 150$ kit will take care of most set ups even in flower. Get the pollen to feed and attract the preditors to the canopy and they will breed if given proper materials like pea leaves and raisins @bunglesfan

Thanks @Hoppiefrog, that’s great info right there…

I am only asking the others about this. Well, meaning I am not sure. But for as far as these are a long. Would any one even bother about the bugs now? It looks like he can chop any day now. On a side note. I do know you can use the Captain jacks dead bug on flowering plants. I have used it on may in flower my self.
My thoughts here would be to just harvest as normal. Then give every thing a H2O2 bath. I know @Myfriendis410 can steer you right with this.

Chopped and bathed her with H2O. No bugs in the water. Not very many bugs, just a few coming out of the bottom of the container.

If you were able to check out any of the bugs. Maybe this will help out a little

Really perfect tricomb maturity.
I mean if you wanted a heavy couch lock you could go for more Amber but that’s max potency stuff right there.

I agree with above, hydrogen peroxide bath.

Sanatize everything before you start the next grow, do a depe clean, ensure your using an intake filter, if your in soil use DE and yellow stickies. Read up on the type of bugs you had and be prepared for it to happen all again but worse just Incase.

Congrats on harvest, it looks minimal.
Remeber outdoor often has bugs and bud did for years of course we try to avoid it now but it’s not the end of the world all the time.

Thanks for your help Nicky. I hope it smokes as good as it looks hanging in my tent. I will post some pics after drying.

Well, the Bungles Fan First Grow Journal is coming to an end. The buds have been chopped, dried, and are curing in jars for a few weeks. The yield wasn’t quite as good as I had hoped but still got about 5 ozs. of dried bud. I did have a bud that I accidentally broke off and was a week ahead of the rest of them that I have tested. It tastes good and smokes well. The high is just as advertised. I am extremely pleased with my science experiment. I appreciate all of the help that everyone provided.

My lessons learned:

  1. ph is critical to the health of the plant
  2. Know the seed genetics
  3. Every change must be gentle
  4. Learn from the plant and what she is telling you
  5. Less is better when it comes to water, nutrients, etc.
  6. Be patient during flowering
