Bulldognuts First Grow Journal

Do you think I should turn down intensity or raise lights up some. They are at about 12" to 15". To raise them I would have to make some minor changes, not anything to radical. The rope hangars are all the way up, but I could make some changes to get them higher.

Actually 3rd grow. First was 4 OG Kush autos. I literally had know idea what I was doing. Second was 4 GDP’S. Didn’t do to bad all things considered. This is 3rd grow, just trying to get to the end with all of them alive.

I’ve been thinking about this (too much light.) I had believed that too much light wasn’t a problem itself and that it was the heat from the lighting that was a problem. I’ve been reading that there is such a thing as too much light during flowering.

I question that though because I have 2 HLG 260XL hanging 20" above my 2 plants (the scrogs are each 2x2 and they are next to each other) and those plants are doing great.

Am I asking for problems later in flowering by putting so much light on them? Each plant effectively has its own 260 20" maxed out above it.

U can start seeing foxtailing from to much light. But I’ve ran my lights at less of a distance with no problems

@Bulldognuts just dial them down a bit for a week and see if they keep growing, sound alike to much hassle to raise em lol.
Heat is a stressor as well but even with controlled heat the fox tailing will happen due to light overload.

New pistil growth is the first sign that we see normally but yours looks not bad at all, a minor adjustment and you should be good.
Mine I had a couple portions to cut off but I have 480w of 3500k QB 301H diodes with 660nm /IR /UV in a 3x3 and I didn’t know about reading my lux before.

That being said you should make a note somewhere for yourself about what The lux reading is and how far away the lights are so next grow you can turn your lights up to just below that. Then slowly push them a bit more if you want week by week watching for signs.

The pic @imSICKkid sent me of foxtailing looks nothing like the pics above. Where do you see the foxtailing.

See in his second picture posted the white bunch of pistils only towards the top of the cola…that’s the START of what turns into foxtailing. The picture I showed you was major foxtailing to get the point across.

so I just chopped down some plants that colored the foxtails pink for clarity… no, I bleached them and they turned pink for some reason…

now not on this plant but on others it has opened to nanners… is this the risk? is it just a genetic abnormality, from too much light? it that the only risk? thx

I have gotten as far as buying (3) lol tents, 2 cheapo and a better one for my limited needs.
I plan to ‘closet grow’ but mostly just enjoying the craic including meters, lights, Ph, scrogs, fimming and so much more. I have a journal of sorts and will be sure to let folk know when I start-up.
